Especially if Watson is only lost for 8 games. They might have a shot at the playoffs if they don’t lose too many in the first 8.Garoppolo is better than what the Browns have if/when their QB1 is suspended. Why they wouldn't have already addressed that I have no idea. Guess they want to get another top pick next year so they can auction it off.
He might be just good enough to keep them from picking in the top 3. Do they want that? With the guaranteed amount of Jimmy GutPunch's contract and coming off a significant injury, the 9ers will have to pay down guaranteed money and will only receive a future day 3 pick in return. Probably from Houston.
He has no guaranteed money in his contract. His base pay isn't guaranteed nor is his roster bonus. All the dead cap that would be created from him being traded or cut is the last $1.4 million of his signing bonus. With the guaranteed amount of Jimmy GutPunch's contract and coming off a significant injury, the 9ers will have to pay down guaranteed money and will only receive a future day 3 pick in return. Damn good call you're correct! But who would want to trade for him with that $24M live figure? He has no guaranteed money in his contract. His base pay isn't guaranteed nor is his roster bonus. Thanks @Loyal... that video never gets old. In fact, it still gives me goosebumps. Thank God the refs picked up the flag or they might have ruined that great play by Scott. It was a great call (or non-call).
"He’s got a really good win-loss record, which is really awesome in the NFL. But, he’s just a guy. He’s not even as good as a Matt Hasselbeck was. San Francisco is in a tight, tight, tight spot. It’s either going to come down to trading him, or cutting him. And they’re going to lose the trade, no matter what.”
“For the Niners, at this point, it’s about getting whatever they can get, because they have absolutely no leverage whatsoever. Their only saving grace is if one team loses their starter early in training camp."
Don’t make me come grease your hogs! ~ Jimmy GWe all knew he was overrated. He's JAG.
Especially if they just traded Jimmy for peanuts. The 49ers' leadership is really under a lot of pressure here.
Jimmy G, for all of his faults, took them to a Super Bowl and, most recently, an NFC Championship game. So, at some point, he had trade value. That ship has likely sailed, though, due to (1) their unwillingness to hand the keys over to Trey Lance as a rookie, and (2) Jimmy's surgery.
At this point, they'll be lucky to get much of anything (other than some cap relief) by trading Jimmy. If, on top of that, Lance struggles and the team starts losing games... well, that would be great, now wouldn't it?
