Kinlaw and Armstead were part of the defense that was ranked 5th overall in 2020, the year Buckner left. In 2021, Armstead was part of a defense that was ranked 3rd overall but Kinlaw was injured. The post I replied to, in MY opinion, made it sound like Lynch's comedy of errors of keeping Armstead and drafting Kinlaw would set them back on defense. I don't see in my post where I stated the top five rankings were due to Armstead's overwhelming talent, skill level, or being better than Buckner.

I misunderstood your intention in the post. It’s easy to do in this format.

I do think they traded the better player in Buckner, but like I said, the a colts may not have offered the same for Armstead. Or it’s possible that the 49ers felt that Armstead had more versatility being able to play DE as well as DT. That didn’t work out so great though.

Please keep in mind many Rams fans hatred for the 49ers may lead to some overzealous bashing of that team, their coaches and the GM.

Overzealous?

"Deserved" is a better answer

Panthers won’t be making a run at acquiring Garoppolo

Finding a veteran rental who is an upgrade would allow Corral to sit and develop. Mayfield seems like the best, and most likely option over San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo even if Panthers receiver Robbie Anderson isn’t thrilled with the idea of Mayfield coming to Charlotte.

But Garoppolo’s recent shoulder surgery, as well as his injury history, is a far greater concern for some within the organization. The Panthers want no part of his $26.9 million salary, and the 49ers haven’t shown a willingness to take to carry those payments in a trade.

I did not enjoy reading some of the comments about Kinlaw. Subhuman? WTF!

He has done diddly squat as a 49er but plays a part in the best defense we have played over the last 2 seasons

They’re going to need Kinlaw to step up this year. DJ Jones was a big deal for them.

I’m very interested to see how close to Kinlaw Brown is.

I'm not sure about the Niners defense being ranked that high over the last 2 years, but then again they rank these defenses by several different categories. But 3rd and 5th? I'm too lazy to look it up.
