2020 Trade Bait ?

Trade scenarios in mock offseasons always crack me up they're so one sided to the Rams

And rarely happen, that's why when a mock has several trades I tend to look away because it's unrealistic with players involved. Moving around the board as the Rams do for picks is one thing, but trading multiple does not happen often.

Their prorated bonus money accelerates into next years cap if traded or cut. The Rams lose a ton of cap space if that happens this year...2020..

They are cuttable after next season where between the two you can save about 13M in cap space.

So I can't see them being moved this year. Maybe a restructure/ pay cut... But nothing more.

It does but the signing bonus has to be accounted for. We paid it out then for cap reasons spread it over a few years. For cap purposes that has to be accounted for. Their base pay, roster bonuses, workout bonus etc goes to the team he’s traded to.

I had Everett in earlier trade treads as a possible trade option. I doubt the Rams resign him and think teams like the Packers, Dolphins and Patsies come to mind that can use a versatile TE/WR. It could depend on how the Rams see the developmental guys they have and resigning Mundt. They could decide to keep him and get a comp pick later. Everett has some value with a low-cost contract. Anything is possible I not sure if they would trade him for a fourth-round pick but, more for a player of need.

I could see the Bears as a viable trade partner as well. The TE position for them this year has been a disaster, and the TE is such a big part of that offense. Everett has essentially outperformed all 5 TEs used by the Bears this year by himself, and that’s with GE missing 3 games. I don’t like the idea of trading Everett, but if something like Everett plus a 2020 4th(141) for one of the Bears 2nd rounders might be interesting.

Trading Everett isn't about his 2020 CAP hit, but he does become a free agent following the season at the same time as Ramsey, Kupp, & JJ3, ... trading Everett makes extending those other guys far easier. It's likely either that or playing him in 2020 and hoping for a fairly high compensation pick in 2022. jmo.

I think the Rams will be contending for a top playoff seed in 2020. If that's the case, having a veteran TE weapon like Everett will be much more valuable than a 4th round pick, which is likely the best pick they'd receive in trade.

Maybe the CBA provides a big bump in the cap and the Rams have some flexibility to resign him. Otherwise let him play out his contact and take a compensatory pick in return.

Snead made 3 trades in just a matter of hours earlier this season when they acquired Corbett, Young & Ramsey while moving Peters. Later Talib was also moved. Snead has changed the face of NFL trading since his big trade with Washington back in 2012, doubt he is done. jmo.

The schedule should be a bit easier and hopefully a bit healthier next year. It should not be a rebuilding year with all of the talent on the roster but tough decisions need to be made. I would prefer to pick up a thumper ILB and rising DE to replace Brockers rather than overpaying for Littleton and/or Fowler.

I know that this isn't going to be popular...but I'd trade Woods for a mid-to-late first. I think he's our best trade chip, and that Reynolds - while he wouldn't completely replace Woods' production - could fill in admirably, along with, say, another drafted wide receiver. I know I'll get backlash - and deservedly so - but Woods' contract is easier to move than Cooks', hence Woods being a better trade chip.

I think Woods becomes a trade possibility if he makes noise about his contract. Which is possible. He's discussed it and the Rams don't have room to boost his pay and moving his contract--even as team friendly as it is--helps them lock Kupp up.

If he doesn't make noise about his contract you could still be right, due to the fact they can't move Cooks yet. And I don't disagree with you either, btw, in terms of it being a viable option.

In that scenario JRey would play out his contract season in a featured role for us in 2020, and then probably leave in FA. But it would buy the Rams time and create opportunity for JRey who the Rams have said all along is a starter.

Don't think anybody is denying our GM makes trades. What most are commenting on is they're impossible to predict and when we do predict them they're almost always massively in the Rams favor.

Usually not with players during the NFL draft, now things have changed and the NFL trades more, however, history shows us teams like to hang on their draft choices on draft day, so they usually don't give up picks for players IMHO.

What do you guys feel a Franchise Tag and trade for Dante Fowler might net ? The Rams are likely to apply the Tag during that two week span between the end of February and early March, but look for private conversations to begin soon after the Feb. 2'nd Super Bowl game.

Both Miami (Fowler is from Florida) and the NY Giants have a big need for an Edge rusher, and they both have the CAP room to make it happen.

Frank Clark was traded last year for a 2019 1'st, a 2020 2'nd and a swap of 3'rd rounders.
Dee Ford was traded for a 2020 2'nd.
Jadaveon Clowney was traded for Barkevious Mingo, Jacob Martin and a 2020 third-round draft pick.

Fowler was originally traded to the Rams from the Jags for a 3'rd & 5'th, but has gone on to far better things since.

I propose Fowler to the Giants or Miami for a 2020 2'nd round pick (36'th pick or 37'th pick overall) and a swap in 2021 of our 6'th and their 4'th.

If you're going to try to franchise and trade somebody that's a horribly light set of picks to get for the player.

Better than letting him walk for a pick at the end of round 3 in 21'

That's a diff of 50-60 draft slots AND waiting a year.

For those of you wanting to trade Everett heres the thing. Hes going to be cheap, he hasn't done much since being here and hes been injured quite a lot. Teams will show interest because he has "potential" but that won't break the bank. If the rams offer him a contract he might sign for a little less than going to a bad teams that might overpay a little.

Me personally I would make signing him a priority because he does have talent and hes still a little raw when it comes to blocking so he will probably improve much like higs did.
