With the 68th pick in the ROD draft, the New York Jets select: Prince Tega Wanogho, OT Auburn
prince-tega-wanogho-e1546904684744.jpg

Pass Sets - Really like his framing on short sets and 45 degree sets, he keeps a wide base and shows the foot quickness to set up and stay anchored. He can overextend or show some impatience if unchallenged initially and length can challenge his ability to establish his hands.

Length/Extension - He's got an excellent reach, like some of the hand strikes he's put on film to extend and offset up field push. His reach offers wiggle room when he's tested up the field on the edge to run past the quarterback. Grip strength and manipulation of defenders at full extension is strong.

Balance - Guilty of playing out over top of his toes in stretches of play, exposing himself to getting snatched or push/pulled off of his set. Really strong when he's tethered and difficult to collapse with power rushes. He's comfortable in space to mirror and shadow rushers 1 on 1.

Hand Technique - Hand placement is still hit or miss, he'll get busted with a wide punch or stray hand fail to set the hook. His hand activity is good and he knows where punches are supposed to land but lots of room to grow in ability to turn out bodies and manipulate POA with hand torque.

Power at POA - Dynamic, booming power that will consistently reset the LOS and collapse defenders looking to hold gaps one on one. A lot of chip blocks have produced a lot of movement and created gaps for rushers to fall in line behind his frame.

Football IQ - Still raw, looks more fluid in 2019 and appears to be more natural with a lot of his block framing and positioning. Late start to the game has impacted his polish and consistency in stretches but appears to generally speaking be a natural. Good exchanges on stunts and twists.

Functional Athleticism - Shouldn't be able to move like he does — graceful big bodied blocker who does well to move with quickness and redirect in lateral situations. Like his redirection ability in pass protection to pin inside. Works well on the second level and ability to gear down quickly and frame LBs.

Anchor Ability - Super strong lower half and core, he'll eat up a lot of rushers even if he isn't cleanly landing a neutralizing punch. He shows good bend to sink and absorb contact through the ground. Not quite as sufficient to drop anchor in vertical sets, where he's still bit more labored.

Flexibility - There is a bit of stiffness when he's facing vertical rushes to flip himself and carry rushers past the apex of the rush lane, but he's got enough functional athleticism to run most past the target. Very good linear coil and explosive power.

Competitive Toughness - Imposing mauler who tends to eat up defenders who try to bump bellies with him — if he's able to get fit on the chest plate, it's over. He'll play through the whistle, too. Have seen him falling behind the pile and churning for additional yardage.

---

Best Trait - Power at POA

Worst Trait - Hand Technique

Best Film - Oregon (2019)

Worst Film - Alabama (2019)

Red Flags - None

Summary -
Prince Tega Wanogho projects as a viable starting LT in the NFL. With plenty of room to grow, Tega Wanogho has Pro Bowl potential given his physical tools — he's got terrific short area movement skills, functional power, length and foot quickness who projects best into a gap/power system and a West Coast passing offense. Tega Wanogho came to the United States in pursuit of basketball initially and is still green to the game, so he'll continue to blossom with more coaching.

Player Bio

Harrison was a top-50 ATH recruit nationally after starting for three years at quarterback for Columbus' Walnut Ridge High School. He wanted to play receiver at his hometown school but moved to linebacker to get more playing time given the team's depth on offense. Harrison played in 12 games as a reserve his true freshman season (13 tackles), and then in 14 games with a start against Michigan State in 2017 (36 tackles, three for loss, 1.5 sacks). Big Ten coaches named him honorable mention All-Big Ten as a junior, tying for the Buckeyes' lead with 81 tackles (8.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks, interception). Harrison again proved himself a playmaker for the Buckeyes as a senior, garnering third-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-Big Ten notice as the team's leading tackler (75 stops, 16.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, four pass breakups in 14 starts).

Analysis

By Lance Zierlein
NFL Analyst
NFL Comparison
K.J. Wright
Overview
Long-legged, loose-hipped linebacker with desired combination of size, physicality and range to help ruin the running game for teams needing linebacker help. His constant downhill mode disrupts blocking schemes and brings impact tackles, but it can be used against him with play-action and misdirection. The instincts are just average but his physical traits even it out on most snaps. He has some coverage limitations but can pressure the pocket as a blitzer and has the athleticism to spy mobile quarterbacks. He's big and tough with the potential to become a good starter inside(PressureD41 thinks he's an inside backer for them) or as a 4-3 strong-side linebacker.

Strengths
  • Long, thick-boned frame
  • Experienced playing all linebacker spots
  • Aggressive, downhill demon making plays near the line of scrimmage
  • Stacks and stands incoming blockers with stiff, upward strike
  • Uses length and build-up speed to pounce on his prey from backside
  • Impressive change of direction for a big, tall linebacker
  • Leverages his gap with very good physicality
  • Uses hands to separate and play off blocks
  • Drives chest through targets and wraps to finish
  • 66 percent of his total tackles as starter were solo
  • Adequate spot dropper from zone
  • Challenges quarterbacks to throw with touch over the top of him
  • Background as core special-teamer
Weaknesses
  • High-cut and slew-footed
  • Movements are more segmented than fluid
  • Downhill defaults can get him trapped in the trash
  • Needs more consistent knee bend to play under angle blocks to anchor
  • Can be undisciplined in contain duties against zone-reads
  • Average instincts and play recognition from the middle
  • Inconsistent angles to the ball
  • Gets sucked up by play-action, opening passing windows
  • Limitations in man coverage

After being roused from a wonderful dream where Margot Robbie was about to ...... sorry back to the draft.

The Miami Dolphins, needing help at Edge, select

Curtis Weaver Edge Boise St

PROS: First step quickness and stride length pops, enabling him to establish a half man relationship and work to soften the outside edge track. Does well to reduce, tilt, flatten and work around the outside hip of offensive tackles. Generally takes good rush angles and complements his rush with ideal footwork. Hands are active, heavy and he does a great job of keeping his pads clean. He’s slippery when working through gaps and around edges. Can line up in a variety of alignments and win as a pass rusher and run defender. Rushes with a plan, showcasing an expansive array of moves to get home. Executes with good timing. Boise State had him play in a variety of roles including standup 3-4 outside linebacker and had him regularly drop into coverage. He looked comfortable in any role, which speaks to his football IQ. Extremely productive defensive playmaker across three seasons with an outstanding resume of accolades.

CONS: Flexibility and lateral mobility don’t impress and he’s a bit of a linear athlete. Needs development with his ancillary pass rush moves. Needs to be more consistent with pad level and not popping straight up out of his stance. Motor is not consistently cranked. Modest tackler and there are some bad whiffs in space - doesn’t have the ideal twitch to break down and be consistent.

BEST TRAIT - Hands

WORST TRAIT - Twitch

RED FLAGS - None

NFL COMP - Derek Barnett

The 2019 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, Curtis Weaver enjoyed a prolific career as a defensive playmaker for the Broncos. Boise State used him a multitude of ways, highlighting his football IQ and versatility at the college level. With that said, I project him most favorably as a 4-3 base end because I don’t believe he has the dynamic movement skills needed to function regularly in space at the next level. Weaver is a technician. If you are looking for an explosive and fluid defender, then this won’t be your guy. With that said, he’s technically sound, deploys his hands well, has outstanding footwork and is slippery when working through gaps. His frame has room to develop and I can see him really taking a step forward in an NFL strength and conditioning program. He’s a bit of a projection, but Weaver has appealing developmental upside to become a solid starter.

So, anyway, just chiming in that I really like this mock draft. It's pretty fun to play!

Although, I think we should ban the 9ers, hawks and pats from it! lol

By way of @RamFan503

With the 71st pick in the ROD Mock Draft The savages take

Brycen Hopkins TE Purdue.

Potentially the third or even fifth TE in the draft, WA takes this chain mover for his NFL attributes rather than his college resume. What he lacks in sex appeal, he brings an ability to find the soft spots and the willingness to take a hit in exchange for the ball.
