1. Welcome to our 8 new Rams!

2. The Rams lost 6 starters from their Super Bowl winning team. Now that the draft is over, we can evaluate how those positions will be manned in 2022.

3. Left Tackle: Andrew Whitworth (retired). Joe Noteboom has been groomed to replace him. While I don't think Noteboom will ever be the player Whitworth was, he has demonstrated the ability to man the left side in this offense.

4. Wide Receiver: Odell Beckham (injured/unsigned). This one is complicated, as OBJ may return. The signing of Allen Robinson, though, ensures that this spot will be filled by a very capable player. If OBJ comes back, the WR corps could be stronger next year than it was last by the time we enter the playoffs.

5. Right Guard: Austin Corbett (FA/signed with Carolina). The Rams drafted Login Bruss from Wisconsin in Round 3, and re-signed Coleman Shelton. They are the most likely candidate to take over this spot. My money's on Bruss, who I think can provide the same level of play as Corbett.

6. Inside Linebacker: Troy Reeder (FA/signed with L.A. Chargers). The Rams signed Bobby Wagner. Massive upgrade.

7. EDGE: Von Miller (FA/signed with Buffalo). This was the one that surprised me. I thought that the Rams would target an EDGE rusher in Round 3 or 4. Instead, they waited until Round 7 to take Daniel Hardy, who is a developmental prospect at this point. There are two primary reasons for this. First, the Rams may believe that they have enough with Justin Hollins, Terrell Lewis and Chris Garrett. Second, the Rams could be targeting one of the veteran FAs still out there (Jadaveon Clowney, Melvin Ingram, Jerry Hughes). I could see this one going either way.

8. Cornerback: Darrious Williams (FA/signed with Jacksonville). I feel much much better about this spot now. In addition to Robert Rochelle, who is an interesting second-year player, the Rams added Decobie Durant in Round 4, Derion Kendrick in Round 6, and Troy Hill via trade. The Rams now have depth at the position, and some young players who could develop into starters who could exceed DWill's performance.

9. I'm not expecting Tyrann Mathieu at this point, but I won't rule him out. He'd be an interesting addition, but he's not essential.

10. I thought the Rams would take a RB in Rounds 3-5, but I had them targeting bigger power backs. Kyren Williams doesn't have that size, but he's a tough, hard-nosed runner who has the receiving and blocking skills to be an ideal 3rd down back. That could save a lot of wear and tear on Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson. I also love Williams' obvious passion fort the game.

11. I'm pretty surprised the Seahawks didn't take a QB.

12. I'm not impressed by the Cardinals' trade for Hollywood Brown. At most, he'll replace Christian Kirk's production.

13. The 49ers are in a bizarre circumstance. They were 15 minutes from the Super Bowl just a few months ago, now they have a lame duck QB waiting to be traded, an offensive MVP wanting to be traded, and a starting QB to-be who's barely played in the last three years.

14. If the Rams make it back to the Super Bowl, they might see the Bengals again. They've had a strong offseason.

15. I remember making picks in the first round... in the before time... In the long, long ago.

16. For our "UDFA most likely to, at least, make the practice squad," I'll go with Brayden Thomas, DE, NDSU.

17. It should be an interesting camp, with a rookie class of 8 prospects (plus UDFAs) competing with second-year players who had their rookie campaigns cut short by injury (Tutu Atwell, Jacob Harris, Robert Rochelle) or who were not able to consistently crack the active roster (Chris Garrett, Bobby Brown).

18. The lack of TE draftees suggest that Higbee, Blanton and Hopkins are likely safe as the depth chart for 2022.

19. There could be a flurry of FA signings after tomorrow at 4:00 (when signings no longer impact next year's Comp pick formula). Then, for the first time since last May/June... things will be quiet for a while.

20. And then... we run it back!

Yeah camp is gonna be live. Seems like there's going to be a ton of skill position talent coming together this year can't wait. :thumbsup1:

BTW it's Robert Rochelle Rochell.

He's not a woman.

This 100%. There's no way we go into the season with Flo/Hollins/Lewis/Garrett. There's just no way, that would be by far our weakest position group. I expected to draft an edge earlier too, but we must have a plan for a veteran FA or trade.

I could see an addition but if you swap-in Okoronkwo for Garrett, isn’t that what the Rams opened with last season?

Yes, and they had a win/loss record of 7 - 2 before Von Miller arrived. Now they have another year of development. My only fear is how sturdy Lewis can remain for the season, if he can enjoy a season free of knee issue set-backs, our Rams Edge picture should be quite fine.

9. You are correct sir, he 'Aint coming.

10. Surprised at this too. I fully expected a back that was similar to Sony. Not upset by the guy they took, but was unexpected.

11. I feared them getting Willis for almost nothing. Now I have a fear they will get Baker for literally nothing. I'm of the opinion he is a solid/good QB and I don't want the Hags to have any opportunity to acquire that for nothing.

12. I think Hollywood is a more dangerous weapon then Kirk, but, yeah, I'm not scared of it.

13. I don't want the stink of the whiners in my post, so I shall not respond.

14. Yeah, Bengals have had a hell of an offseason. They shored up that terrible OLine that may have been the difference in the SB.

18. I feel like they might acquire another TE via cuts. They could kick the tires on a few of the FA's too: Ebron & Jarwin are a couple I could see.

19. I'm only hoping to hear that they have signed Clowney to a team friendly deal. Clowney next to AD sounds menacing.

20. HELL YES

IMO this UDFA class is the least noteworthy we have had in several seasons. It easily could be that the draft itself wasn't the greatest however.

I think adding Allen Robinson is the most brilliant, underrated, under the radar acquisitions in NFL free agency this year.

I don't think the Bengals get back to the Super Bowl for awhile.

Wagner may not be known as a pass rusher but i suspect he's going to get alot of opportunities to hit QB's in 2022.

What if DC Morris just eliminates the need for an OLB'er edge position from his base defense would that help?

DC Morris is jammed full with an extra-large talented DL room by going FOUR 3-point DL'ers out to go with THREE star LB'ers SOLB/ER Floyd/ MLB Wagner/ WSOLB Jones?

DC Morris has four big weapons @ DT with A'Shawn Robinson, Aaron Donald, Greg Gaines & young big Bobby Brown all of which will need to see a good amount of snaps!

DC Morris has a well-blended talented DL cadre signed & under contract. He does have some young DE's looking for work along with the newly 2022 drafted DE Daniel Hardy:

Ernest Brown 6-5/270 (Ram Drafted)
Jon Williams 6-5/275
Terrell Lewis 6-5/265 (Rams Drafted)
Justin Hollins 6-5/250
Chris Garrett 6-4/245 (Rams Drafted)

With the 2 drafted deep free safeties Quentin Lake & Russ Yeast to go with Nick Scott, Terrell Burgess, Jake Gervase, and Jordan Fuller you should bet that DC Morris is going to run his 3rd hybrid LB'er Taylor Rapp up close to the LOS & will not be seen playing much coverage any longer.

Its about generating a consistent pass rush, and we have no one at the edge position who can do that. Floyd isnt an elite pass rusher. He's solid but not enough. And when he comes off the field we will have below average talent out there.

I could see an addition but if you swap-in Okoronkwo for Garrett, isn’t that what the Rams opened with last season?
Yea but Obo is better than all the other names mentioned. And we still felt like we needed to add another pass rusher in Von Miller. Now take away Von and Obo we are much much much weaker at pass rush. Maybe Matheiu signing in NO is a blessing in disguise because we can sign an edge vet which helps a bigger weakness.

OLB who can rush the passer better than Hollins is a need not a super need but not getting Mathieu's didn't help matters.

Just watching Weddle back there 2 years retired and laying people out we will miss that. It surely helped that Von could be a force at setting the edge in the run game and could still rush the passer in a significant way making our back end less likely to hold up as long as other teams it was a luxury and truthfully it really paid huge dividends.

I assume as week 8 rolls around and teams basically know their fate someone will get freed up that the team does not want to pay in 2023 or will be FA and won't resign with that team and we may pay with a draft pick for stretch run.

Yeah, we have a 2024 first round draft pick that's burning a hole in Les Snead's pocket!! He'll find somebody to take it by Halloween.

I figure both Garrett and Hardy need to be rotated in on pass downs. I don't expect either of those guys to hold up if a team runs at them. Hollins will handle those early downs.

Then maybe at the trade deadline they can find a starter level guy there who can stay on the field. But we do have AD from the interior so there's some room for error and if the rush guys can get the pressures we should be in good shape.

What will hurt us is matchups where the offense is smart and can change tempo to lock that personnel group. They'll try to keep us in that early down look.

We may also just move AD outside more and lean more on ARob (D) and Gaines.

That would be an excellent move in that it would likely help extend AD's career

That said, Hollins is a solid contributor and Terrell Lewis has the potential to be EXCELLENT. If he can stay healthy, he's got Pro Bowl or better upside, for sure.

I'd rather have Geno Smith than Baker Mayfield. Suspect the Seahawks feel the same way.

There was a veteran running back that Sean brought in his first year…Lance Dunbar that played most of his career with Dallas…he was never healthy enough to get a shot here, especially with a healthy Todd Gurley…but this kid from Notre Dame..Kyren Williams is similar in being well rounded, but a much much bigger upside. I’m excited to see him.
