John Kelly's had some time with us and really hasn't made much of opportunities to shine in offseason (and what, like 1-2 carries in regular season?), so what say we about this Xavier Jones kid? Any chance he can beat out Kelly??

I think Kelly is done no matter what happens, he's just not very good
I could absolutely see them going with the rookie. I think it’ll be Brown, Akers and Hendo active with the 4th being the silly game day inactives.
It seems every time we get a RB if they are not above average on Pass blocking they are soon "done". I know Kelly wiffed a few blocks in the past. It makes sense with our play calling.

John Kelly is the Mike Thomas of rb's in the preseason. Go watch his highlights again, dude kills it in preseason. He just hasn't had the opportunity. Hes been in a couple times in games but always seemed undersized. I really like Kelly but I do think his time may soon be up here.

Xavier Jones might be the best back on the roster funny thing is he reminds me of a lot like John Kelly just faster and more physical

He’s a practice squad player at this point, nothing more.
The draft said a lot IMO. Henderson will be safe, but beyond that I wouldn’t be surprised if #3 RB isn’t currently on the roster.
If Jones can return punts and/or play ST, he could have a shot that way. Looks electric in these highlight vids
