I have wanted Watkins for six months now, and I see the errors of my way. I am a slower learner than I imagined--or not, we will find out soon.
Prometheus Faulk from Post D said the stuff about the X,Y and Z Wr's that we have already
(at the bottom)--- and I agree. So, for me getting Watkins is like getting Clowney. It may not maximize our roster like Mike Evans would. We have Long and Quinn, and we still need some more pieces---so why draft Clowney, unless he is HOF material (which on talent, he is). So, I want to pass on Clowney. And, I thnk I want to pass on Watkins, too. We have Stedman and Tavon who I think will both be part of our big success in 2014-2016. So, maybe Evans type of guy --the X reciever is how we should go. Or not draft a WR until the 3rd
Quick story about the 2013 draft and me: I live in Europe, so I have to wait until the next morning for the draft results. So, I told my buddy in France I am happy with almost any player, except Tavon Austin and ALec Ogletree ; Imagine my surprise when I saw the Rams traded a 2nd rounder for Tavon. I did an about face, realizing the staff had a plan for Tavon, and that they must know more about football than me (re: Alec). Turns out the staff really didn't have a plan for Tavon. He is the #1 biggest
draft surprise of Jeff Fisher's career, in my opinion.
Prometheus Faulk from Post D thinks about (Wr's) this way:
X receiver - big guy, catches short and intermediate passes and breaks tackles. Out muscles guys in short yardage. Wins the jump ball fades in the end zone (Quick and Britt types).
Y receiver - slot guy (Austin has this one nailed down, could be backed up by Bailey or Givens)
Z receiver - burner, rips the top open or at least has the ability to get chunk yardage with speed and or guile. (Givens, Bailey, Watkins, IMO OBJ).
Probably oversimplifying and could be wrong, but that's what I've seen.
