I'm trying to research it - but i think as it stands if we win next week we are in regardless of what happens in week 18.

Yes, because even if the Seahawks beat us on the last game, we own the next tiebreaker against them.

I think if they lose on Thursday, that would also clinch us the west.

Crazy to be here when three weeks ago we were looking up.

I know that the Shehawks were eliminated from wildcard today, and now only have like 13% chance of winning west. I think if we beat Cards we win the west, but could be wrong

Let’s assume we beat ARI and then lose to SEA, while the Seahawks win their last two:

Head to head: 1-1
Division record: both 4-2
Common games: both 7-5
Conference: both 6-6

Then it goes to strength of victory and finally strength of schedule, neither of which I can be bothered to look up at 01:09 UK time.

My understanding is our wins vs Vikings and bills would come in clutch since hawks lost to both of them.

Rams currently have the lead in SOV.

Evidently there is a scenario where the Seahawks could win the SOV tiebreaker, but as it was explained to me, it relies on a very specific and unlikely series of outcomes that all fall the Seahawks way. They need to win their last two and get a lot of help.

Beating the Cards would put the Rams chances of winning the West at 99%. Just not 100, by itself.

Its a virtual lock if the Rams win next week. Their are 9 different games that have to break Seattles why for the tiebreaker to switch in their favor.

Only need to look at the different wins for us and Seattle

Seahawks:

Miami
Denver
Arizona
Atlanta
Chicago (assuming they beat Chicago next week - if they don't this is all moot)

Rams:

Vikings
Bills
Saints
Raiders
Niners

Currently: we are leading 39 wins to 35 amongst those teams.

For this scenario to play out, both the Bears and Cardinals lose next week (if either of the opposite happens, this situation is moot)

We could clinch next week if the lead in wins goes from 4 to 6 (since there are only five teams in question, the most games Seattle can make up would be 5). We already know Chicago and Arizona wouldn't be winning in this scenario - for the rest we have:

Rams side:

Bills - home for the Jets (W)
Vikings - home for the Packers (toss up)
Niners - home for Detroit (L)
Saints and Raiders play (one W)

Seahawks side:

Miami - at the Browns (toss up bc of the cold)
Atlanta - at Washington (L)
Denver - at Bengals (toss up)

If we end up +2 from that on the week, we will clinch. Our best shot is for the Bills and Vikings to win which will give us 3 on the week (counting the one we get from Saints/Raiders) and the. For the Falcons and Broncos to lose - if that happens, we clinch.

Basically, Win next week and we are in.

Cardinals are a shell of what they were earlier in the year. Their tackles and RB's are depleted.

And we are a completely different, healthy team now.

Probably a typical Mcvay vs Zona score 33-10.
