Here is a quick re-run in my mind. (main reason for loss in color).

Tampa Bay... had some turnovers but in the end we scored 40 points - that should be enough to win Defense
Seattle Hard fought battle, Everett with a bad drop, but we win it still if for one kic GZ
49ners There defensive line just destroyed our OL. 0-line
Pitt Still haven't seen a similar play called a fumble, I'll give this one to McVay mostly McVay/0-line
Ravens Defense completely destroyed Defense.
Cowboys Cowboys lots of yards all year but cant score in many games, scored at will against us Defense
49ners Goff with a key turnover, defense gives it away at the end, GZ another key miss Defense/turnovers/
GZ

Goff had some struggles with consistency and turnovers, GZ was not good, the oline struggled - especially in run blocking, but in the end it was defensive collapses that did us in more than any other area.

My take anyway.

The team just didnt get it done in a few games that really mattered. If the team shows up for Dallas, finishes against Pittsburgh or pulls out a win in seattle or sf, we are in. Didnt happen, lost as a team, no 1 phase cost the team a playoff berth.

Sounds like we missed the play offs because we just didn’t play well enough as a team and lost some games we were in until the end. Not one single player/unit is to blame, we just didn’t get it done as a team. It happens.

Hate me for this comment but... there's no reason to pay Greg the Leg anything but average money, because sadly that is all he is now. Don't waste money trying to keep him. Not impressed.

All three facets of the game...The offense struggled at times and turn the ball over too much, the defense broke our hearts and the the special teams were just ordinary this year....I look forward to turning things around and I like that McVay said maybe it's better because there are obvious deficiencies and if the Rams made the playoffs and was one and done, they might not have addressed those issues.

Better OL play would have meant far better production from Gurley and Goff. Translation would have been a deep playoff run as a very high seed. So the OL is far and away the biggest problem. Rams did what they could in-season too, adding Corbett and playing the kids.

Secondary play was the second biggest problem IMO. They struggled mostly in zone calls strangely enough, and made the hard call to overhaul the secondary in-season doing what they could to fix it and play the kids. That will pay off next year, I really like this group we just need another FS type behind JJ so that we're not playing all SS types and blowing deep coverages if he gets hurt. Rams may see a FS as their greatest need defensively too btw, as they might be planning to let JJ go in FA and this past season they got beat a lot and gave up way more big plays than they should have. Ballhawking safety deep with these corners and Rapp would get 'er done.

LBs continue to be a problem I'd say they're the third biggest issue. It's been so long since we had a true bad@$$ linebacker. Littleton is a third down/coverage type who can play early downs but isn't going to give you consistency in run fits through traffic vs the better rushing teams. Matthews when he set a good edge made a big difference but his lateral speed meh. Lot of JAGs tbh.

But I also think fans are making too big a deal of our issues, as is the media. There are a lot of guys who are going to step up on this roster, they just need to fix the OL and get a few key pieces in here and we'll be back in action.

Lack of passion, intensity and energy at times.
Out coached at times.
Mistakes and missed kicks

There were a lot more injuries than in recent years - it happens. A lack of ready depth on the OL (as Merlin pointed out). I expect the OL to be better in 2020, between more experience, a likely pickup or two, and hopefully somewhat better health. While there were blowouts, multiple games should have been won with just a little better health on the OL. It happens

I know we played like crap during the Pittsburgh game but I blame the loss on that game to the refs

What a few bullshit calls during that game and one of the worst fumble calls in the history of the NFL.

Yes I am going that far on that fumble call.
