Seen this clip today and it got me thinking about how amazing ED was when he was in Horns! Hearing Marcus Allen talk about him is pretty legit to.

I’ve seen some debates here and there on the forum but searched for a thread surprisingly didn’t find one.

So who is your GOAT Rams RB and why is it Blake Corum? :laugh2::sunglasses:

Superbowl victories count, Faulk was amazing in all regards. Without lingering knee issues, I think Gurley could have topped this list eventually.

Faulk because he could do anything and did it all for 10 years or so. Gurley is next because he could also do it all, but injuries derailed his career. Then ED because he was probably the best running back in history. But he could not run routes like Faulk or Gurley. Poor SJ never had a chance to prove how good he was.

Karen Williams and rookie Blake Corum make the poll list ahead of Dick Bass and Lawrence McCutcheon!?!

Come on @Corbin, you’re better than that.

Objectively speaking, it’s got to be between Faulk and Dickerson.

Best pure running back, ED
Pick 1 guy to start your team with today, its Faulk
Without injury, Gurley could have supplanted both
Most overrated? SJ. Great back in his day, but he's not in the conversation with the top 2

Well you know recency bias and all of that! haha

Shit apparently I'm guilty of it myself because I know McCutcheon but didn't realize he had that many yards and I'm ashamed to admit it but it's the truth, I didn't know who Dick Bass is/was until I just looked up this list from your post! smfh

Well there is a rabbit hole I need to throw myself into.

Well, there plays into the conversation again of the 60's-mid 80's I have a hole of knowledge with.

Awesome vid but at :20 seconds wtf is that other guy on our team thinking catching up and knocking him down? lol

Thanks for the video, I’m glad you posted it. Scooter went on to do color commentary with Bob Starr on radio for the Rams. BTW his high school stats at Vallejo high were insane. Something like 2 touchdowns average per 12 minute quarter over 16 games when underclassmen didn’t play. Drafted number 2 overall after leading the nation in rushing at what would become UOP, then College of the Pacific.

...

It's OK. I'm to blame here ... not you.

It's an Old Guy Thing. We don't want to be forgotten; and, by extension, we don't want the things and people that were important to us in our youth to be forgotten.

Now ...

Voted ED but Faulk was a close second.

ED was a one-man show at times and even though teams knew what was coming they still could not usually stop him. Many people today do not realize just how big and fast Dikerson really was.

Faulk was much more elusive and one of the smartest backs to ever play but he had a lot better complimentary pieces than Dickerson.

Gurley if healthy may have challendged for the top spot. In many ways he was a nice mix of Faulk and Diskerson. He had the size and speed like Dickerson but was also good in the pass game like Faulk.

All were in schemes that complimented their styles.

With all that being said I think Faulk would definitely fit better than Dickerson into the modern NFL and into McVay's offense.

ED (he was fast and elusive, but also dealt punishment), but Gurley was more versatile and was a slashing YAC guy as well.

Wendell Tyler had the most yards per carry.

And Tyler probably had the most fumbles per carry, swinging the the ball in traffic like he did! My gut still clenches when remembering him carry the ball!

Marshall Faulk is what made me a Rams fan. I was just a boy, growing up in Arizona with a family of Cowboys fans. I knew I didn't like the Cowboys before I knew I liked the Rams. But seeing Marshall play made me fall in love with the game. I think the collective "we" will sadly forget about Gurley, or even SJax (whom we share the trauma of an awful late 00's era Rams team). But we won't forget Faulk or Dickerson. 1A and 1B in RB rankings.

Blake Corum gonna be the GOAT tho. 3 superbowl rings. Take a receipt, cause this isn't a prediction but a promise.

Anything before the Rams Steelers 1980 Super Bowl I didn't see with my own two eyes.
95% of what I've seen since then I've forgotten.

Disclaimers out of the way, I gotta say Marshall, Marshall, Marshall all day on this poll.

But damn we've had some good backs.
On this team, right now, choose one in their prime? Here's my list:

1) Marshall Faulk
2) Steven Jackson
3) Eric Dickerson
4) Todd Gurley

Why just one though? Could you imagine getting two of these backs? 1a and 1b. I don't care which two you grab - - it would maybe be the best running back 'one two punch' tandem in history.

Go Rams.
