Who do you think is the longest tenured Ram who will be cut or traded before opening day?

Sucks that Hopkins never showed out. He was huge in the superbowl for us. But yeah, he’s likely gone.

Brycen Hopkins is easiest because they have added Long & Davis Allen, however, I think he sticks along with everyone else too.

I’m certainly NOT saying they’ll all still be Rams by season’s end, but I wouldn’t let any of them go before camp ends. There are too many new/young faces who will need to “learn how to be a Ram”, requiring veteran examples. From playbook to practices, you need veteran players to show how it’s done, if for no other purpose, to expedite the learning curves and get some things accomplished in preparation for opening day.

If the season goes south early and the Rams postseason chances shot by the trade deadline, you might add a few more names to your list as trade or cut candidates.

Edit:
Given that the Rams are bringing in at least 3 guys to compete at Edge, I’d say it’s more likely someone who is coming back from that group won’t make it out of camp.

This year's whipping boy.

I voted they all stay but, a surprise trade is possible.

To be fair to Brycen Hopkins, I did see something on Reddit where he has more Super Bowl receiving yards than George Kittle.

Heh :sunglasses:

Cutting Brian Allen saves nearly $5M if Shelton or Avila wins the starting center job. According to the article below.

That’s incentive to see if the best 5 means Avila plays center. Shelton a top reserve.

I don’t see Allen as a Ram in 2024. So if there is a monetary gain in cutting him in 2023 I see him as a primary cut target.

I really think Avila was brought in to play guard. That kicks Jackson out to LT—which makes sense because Noteboom probably won’t be ready by opening day.

I’ll tell ya, that battle for RG is gonna be fierce. It could create a domino effect that ultimately forces Allen out—Shelton might have to move over to Center so the Rams can carry Bruss, Anchrum, and McClendon on the 53.

When Noteboom is ready someone will have to go. That’s when Shelton could move over. This is why I don’t see anybody on that list going anywhere soon; but once the season starts and some of the questions marks become answers, a couple of those guys on the list could be in trouble.

Avila playing center would be like putting Donald at DE all game. It really just wastes a strength if he is as good as he projects to be.

Sure seems like the best thing to happen to Rams would be for Shelton to hold onto the starting Center role, then they can cut Allen and Avila plays guard but can emergency backup at center.

Honestly, Avila at center opens up a lot of options. It could put an improved Bruss or maybe even a surprise like McClendon as your opposite guards, giving you a lot of push in the running game. And Avila's strength is the passing game, so making sure there's no interior pressure could help. If he can make the calls and snap the ball well enough, I see no reason why he can't be our answer to Humphrey (as much as @Loyal hates it.)

Went with Boom due to a new OL coach plus Jackson possibly winning that LT role. If someone else shows as a swing OT he could be odd man out though I think all those names will be on this year's team. The fat already got trimmed.

I don't think Noteboom will be cut due to his contract. But they traded Ramsey and I didn't think they'd do that either due to his contract.

I went with Hopkins. Its a numbers game. They drafted a bigger TE in Davis and traded for Long. Would they really carry four TEs on the roster?
