What should the Bears do with the number one pick?

Watching a couple of videos on the Bears and what they should do with the number one pick and people calling Bryce Young a “smaller Mahomes” and they should take him, which got me thinking with our Ramsey situation, what would you do if you were the GM of the Bears? Would you stay in the same place you are with a Ramsey trade, or is it different for you?


For me, I’d trade down to 4 and pick up those picks and see if I could pick up one of the two premiere defensive players and keep Fields. That being said, i think CJ Stroud will be the better QB for value tbh.

Ps listening to Todd Mcshay he sounds drunk or on a binge!

I'm quite concerned with Bryce Young's frame. Mahomes, at least, has meat on his bones; Young is barely 6'0" (probably a bit shorter) and thin (not even 200 lbs. at the moment; Combine might change things). Honestly, a bigger Kyler Murray is what I think is a better comparison for Young (although to be fair, I don't think Young has anywhere close to the maturity issues Murray has shown). And Fields showed that he could be a solid quarterback in this league, which is what Chicago needs.

What I'd do is deal the first round pick to the Texans, so the Texans have their pick between Young and C.J. Stroud, then deal to a team like the Panthers or the Falcons or maybe even the Colts, if they want to make sure they aren't leapfrogged, so that they could take the remaining QB. Then they have a treasure trove of picks, both this year and in the next year, which they can use to get guys to surround Fields on the offensive line, maybe even replace David Montgomery with Bijan Robinson, if he's not already taken, improve the defense.

Imagine what they could do with the Texans second round pick. Imagine what they could accomplish with the Indianapolis Colts 2024 first round pick.

Just my thoughts. The Rams got springboarded with their draft picks from the RG3 trade; I think Chicago could do something similar, and especially if they get another head coach.

Of course, that doesn't matter when they have fucking Eberflus as their HC. Guy is a total fucking joke as a coach.

I went "Other Explain". They should sell the #1 pick for cash so that if there is another 1929 type stock market crash, the owner (who just turned 100 years old in January) will have some emergency money in the bank to get them through the hard times. They obviously will never spend additional funds on the team or the stadium, so just get some cash for the pick and miss the playoffs as usual.

It helps that Fields is better than what Bradford was with us. The Bears could conceivably deal Fields, but they wouldn't get the bounty that they'd get from dealing the pick, and honestly, Young and Stroud have their own flaws.

And no, it's not a bad idea to trade down if you're a bad team like the Bears. More chances to hit on talent, especially if it's a deep draft.

That’s defiantly the smart move to do tbh. I think I’d keep Fields since he’s a proven commodity and do what I could to drive up the price.

Fate yeah, I'd love to inquire about Fields if the Bears do trade him. I think he has a ton of potential that has yet to be unlocked (because Chicago's HC is a fucking moron who can't manage his defense - what Chicago brought him in for - let alone Fields and the offense), and he could eventually replace Stafford when he retires.

He’s got value. He isn’t horrible, but his run game is better than his passing game. He is a QB, not a RB.

Poles and the HC got to say like I always say the litmus test is can we (the Bears) win a Superbowl with this guy? That is the 64,000 question they must answer first. If the answer is no then they have to look at all the FAs and 4 key prospects and see if any are way better than Fields if they still are not convinced trade down 2 times if possible with Houston, Indy ( or some other QB needy team) and reap a ton of picks then punt till next year they will have a stronger nucleus around Fields have more ammo next year and tank this year and take CW next year and become a dynasty. Literally this could happen. Williams is a HOF QB in the making best ever to come out of USC and with a weak NFC North plus tons of great draft picks if not squandered on back picks plus 69m cap space and a great year for FAs Chicago can do some major damage. One stupid play changed the franchise and that was Houston going for 2 to win outright at the end of the game on their last game this year hilarious.

Me unless they believe Young is Mahomes like I am standing pat and start my collection of huge talent. Add tons of draft picks, FAs and reassess next off-season.

Fields would be decent on a good team. But he isn't worth his draft status that's for sure. Just shows you what a crap shoot the draft really is

I think the number one pick could be traded for a lot of pieces to rebuild the team. The Bears are the worst team in the league. They need to get lots of picks. I'd consider trading Fields too, if the offer is right. But for now he's on a cheap rookie deal, so he could help win some games while they rebuild.

I'd trade down to #2 and then trade Fields
I think both Stroud and Young are significantly better than Fields.

Levis is the guy this year I think. The guy with all the right stuff to be the consensus #1 QB, the ability plus the exposure to the Rams' version of the WCO. Plus he won't be starting at OL ass in the pocket like Young will be.

If I were the Bears I'd take Levis and trade Fields. But they have an owner who probably doesn't want to change her Christmas gift card list so won't support moving Fields. They're gonna have stars in their eyes imagining all those picks they're gonna get for moving down and then miss on.
