Hated him as a head coach ....... but there's no denying he's one of the best d-coordinators in the game. Would probably be motivated to do great too, because it could lead to getting another gig as as HC somewhere else .

Well, he can't do less/worse than his brother Rob did when he was with the Rams, could he?

No thanks.....

Also... didn't he and Jalen exchange barbs? Or was that Rex and Peters?

I don't want a guy who jumped on the internet to find guys to beat off onto his wife's feet and has a tattoo of his semi nude wife in a Mark Sanchez jersey.

It's just a teeny tiny bit unstable for me.

Also I don't like recycled coaches.

I think it'd probably be a good move - dude fielded some really good defenses.

But his time on Sunday NFL Countdown showed me that he's just....a weird dude. Doesn't come off as very intelligent. It'd be hard to get over that.

I'm sure the Rams have put their toe in the water and he might have his foot in the door.

don’t give Rob the keys !! LMAO

just think Rex comes in and Mcvay gives him the keys before the press conference &
then he comes back in as his toe still at the door & throws the keys back & tells him to F’off

The older types probably won't be open to a young kid like McVay being involved in their gameplanning. So I'd say that would have to get hammered out for him to come to LA. But that said his scheme is very similar to what we've run the past three years.

He plays the same under front, where AD would be at 3T and that's critical. The need up front would still be for a 5T to replace Brock. In the secondary Rex also plays a lot of varied looks and subs in different packages depending on opponent.

IMO Rex would be a very nice hire for us at DC. Question is how he'd get along with our young head coach.

Oh and one note re: Ryan... He has a history of calling out Ramsey in the media. He did so after Jalen was "sick" as well as after he called out Rapp. That would probably factor in given that the Rams are trying to sign Ramsey.

No offense to Joe Barry but to fire Wade for Barry to me is a step backwards. It would seem Sean McVey just wants underlings rather than people he can work with and continue to grow from. Let's face it we love the dude but he looked like he aged 10 years from his rookie season and seemed even a bit overwhelmed just calling offensive plays. Now we are supposed to believe he can handle being heavily involved in all aspects. I just hope it's him trying to learn but is smart enough to know he needs someone young energetic but also proven and l will let him do his thing. obviously as a head coach he can interject some opinions but I'm thinking if you get a proven commodity will they react well to micro management. For example if it was a Greg Williams or Jim Swartz do you think they would react well. To sum it up I'm just hoping he isn't trying to put pieces together that he just wants to rule with an iron fist over like a control freak. That would be the quickest way to end his career.

This is an excellent case study on how quickly fans can turn on coaches. Even when it's not warranted. Nice job engaging ludicrous speed.

I don't want any of the Ryans, Rex or Rob. We can do better and I especially don't like their constant Grand-standing in the media. The Rams need a young and upcoming coach who is dedicated to making this defense achieve beyond what it has to this point and is satisfied being a member of a team of coaches, not the center of attention.

He did? Where?
He inherited a juggernaut in Baltimore that did finish 1st in points allowed 1x in his tenure, but which had also been top 6 4 out of 5 years (including #1 as well) before he took over.
The Jets? Defense started great (thanks Mangini) and was deplorable by the time he got fired. Buffalo? Even worse. Took over a top 5 defense and watched it drop to 16 within 2 years
I'll tell you who does think, make that I know someone who knows that Rex Ryan is the best DC out there, that would be Rex Ryan.
Ryan, calling the Ryan party of 1?

I'm not a fan of Rex but when he's squarely in the DC role he knows what he's doing. Really the reason McVay won't consider him is probably his big mouth (the dude just can't contain his BS) as well as his apparent dislike for Ramsey.

But I also doubt he'd work hand in hand with McVay on weekly gameplans without being all defensive and weird about it. The Buddy Ryan gene is strong there.
