Kellen Winslow Jr. responds to claim he was caught masturbating
By Dom Cosentino/NJ.com
Jets tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. says he was just changing his clothes when a woman called the cops on him because she thought he was masturbating in his car. (William Perlman / The Star-Ledger)
A publicist for Kellen Winslow Jr. issued a statement in response to a woman's claim to police that she saw theJets tight end masturbating in his vehicle outside a Target in East Hanover back in November.
In short, it's not what you think! Winslow says he was just changing his clothes.
Here is the statement in full from Winslow's publicist, Denise White:
Kellen pulled over to a parking lot to smoke what he thought at the time was a legal substance. He changed his clothes in his vehicle as not to smell like smoke when he returned home . [sic] There was absolutely nothing inappropriate that took place and if there was police would have investigated further and charged Kellen which they did not. This will be the only time we will comment on this unfounded and ridiculous claim.
An unidentified woman had told police she saw Winslow's erect penis. By the time police arrived, Winslow was wearing sweatpants. Police also allegedly saw two open containers of Vaseline in the car's console.
The witness signed a written statement for police, but a source told ESPN New York thatbecause she neither signed a complaint form nor appeared in court, Winslow could not be charged with lewdness. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of synthetic marijuana.
A Jets spokesman declined to comment.
