Watch: Rams kicker Lirim Hajrullahu drills FGs from 75 and 77 yards

There are a lot of position battles that will need to be sorted out this summer in training camp, one of which is at kicker. It’s not a marquee competition like inside linebacker and guard will be, but it’s an important one after the departure of Greg Zuerlein.

The Rams currently have three kickers on the roster, two of which hailed from other football leagues, and another who was a seventh-round pick. Lirim Hajrullahu was signed by the Rams out of the CFL, and he’ll be competing against former XFL kicker Austin MacGinnis and rookie Sam Sloman out of Miami (Ohio).

I think we should keep all three kickers and here is why:

  1. Lirim Hajrullahu...For Long Distance FG's & Kickoffs
  2. Austin MacGinnis....20-49 Yards
  3. Sam Sloman...Because he's from Miami of Ohio.

This is actually the one position battle that you can make a legit case for any of the three guys. I literally change my mind daily for who I think will win the PK spot. It’s so weird. One guy will win and the other two poof gone.

What's incredible about this guy is his scoring percentage is excellent, better overall than Greg's. They can put Sloman on the PS but they need to keep this guy. Can you imagine the Rams would only need to get to the 50 yd line to score in a final drive to win the game. If they take the that last KO at the 25 yd line they would only need to move the ball 20-25 yds to have a shot at a game-winning last-second score. Geez, what a weapon.

Also, this guy played outside in Canadian winters yet maintained consistently over 80% success rate. Wow just think the minute the Rams get to the 50 yd line they are in scoring position. Talk about a game-changer!

Kickers are just nuts so not gonna waste my time predicting it just gonna enjoy the competition. But I will say the most important thing for me is which guy has the best chance to nail a big kick, on the road in January, with some cold weather and a good crosswind. Who's the toughest mentally and keep that dude.

Oh and btw it's a fucking CRITICAL competition for the outcome of the season. Here's a nice article on these magnificent bastards:

As much as I’d like to debate those that have a track record of whiffing on kickers I’ll pass

GZ made the “big” kicks (except that one in Seattle that floated 6 inches to the right)

I guess at the end of the day his quirky injuries made him expendable, time will reveal how that comes to pass but I get the move (don’t agree tho)

Anyone wanna get rich quick?

Devise a prerequisite test that can identify kickers that can forget inevitable miss one kick failure, set those aside, and for the Love of God don’t overthink pressure kicks

To me GZ excelled at this

How the ball will fly in SoFi at 100 Ft. below ground with open-air circulation? Rams may need that big leg.

That kick was right down the middle. It's going to be a great competition.

Quote
"In his CFL career, he made 83.3% of his field goal attempts across six seasons, including a career-best season in 2016 when he made 88.1%. And from 50-plus yards, Hajrullahu was 19-for-23 in his career, making his last 10 attempts since 2018."

That's impressive. If he can focus on shorter attempts he could hard to beat.

Holy shit!

.

I wonder if the Rams are gonna keep two kickers. This guy for kick offs and 50+ yarders. And another guy who's more accurate in the 30-50 yards range.

The guy they drafted got better the more clutch the kicks were. Its going to be a interesting competition.

Not Surprised.

He's a BEAST and is a "My Guy" of mine, to make the final roster.

LETS GO, LIRIM HALLELUJAH!!!!!
