Bill Vinovich Named Super Bowl Referee, Despite Stain Of Infamous Missed Pass Interference In Saints-Rams
CBS Boston | Jan 15

One might reasonably assume that any officials involved in any way with arguably the biggest blown call in NFL history would not be put in a position to officiate the highest-profile sporting event in the world for at least a year or two.
One would be wrong.
The NFL has tabbed referee Bill Vinovich to be the referee for Super Bowl LIV, according to Football Zebras. If that name doesn’t sound familiar, then you’re probably not a fan of the New Orleans Saints.
Vinovich was the referee at the Superdome last January when the officiating crew missed a clear and obvious case of pass interference committed by the Rams against the Saints.

It wasn't him that missed the call though was it..........his responsibility is in a different area of the field.

He is the highest rated referee in the league according to leaked info. And we know only the top guys get these gigs.

Yeah, but how does a terrible ref with a history of being a complete shitclown get the highest rating in the NFL? The rating system is broken, because it's based on admitting your own faults. The refs who don't overturn calls on the field get higher ratings. The refs who look at the video and say "yep, we missed that one" and overturn bad calls get lower ratings. So the refs actually doing their job right get bad ratings... Unless the refs job isn't to call the game according to the rules.

I have no idea how the system works, as far as I know nobody does it's in house and and they don't release info.

I don't know his history. What I know is peoples opinions that he is awful run counter to what his peers think. If he's made a few calls Rams fans don't like that tends to snowball.

IMO the guy who wrote this piece is the shitclown. He's smearing someone for something someone else did. It's irresponsible journalism and pure triple distilled clickbait.

His crew throws among the fewest flags out of the whole lot of them.

ESPN ran an article that I just read rating him #1 overall. Probably at his position not overall but who knows.

I recall a thread about him when his crew was reffing an upcoming Rams game. Lot's of shall we say vitriol towards him that I didn't understand. I was trying to think of bad calls he or his crew made and nothing jumped out.

If someone could explain I'd like to know.

Cuz frankly after the no-call against the Saints I was going to send a thank you note hahaha.

So what do he do?

Lol, this forum is scratching its head over the pick. You should check out the Saints forum. They're livid over there. :ROFLMAO:
That makes my heart warm, happy and filled with joy! I mean it! The sore spot forever with NO is when Peyton comes to the podium after the loss and basically say the Rams did not beat us, that one blown call cost us the game. That will forever be one of the absolute best examples of poor sportsmanship ever. I can't imagine, in my wildest dreams, Coach Vermeil or Coach McVay even mentioning it let alone crying about it and playing the blame game for completely blowing the game. Saints had the Rams on the ropes and our amazing Rams somehow pull off one of the greatest upsets in recent memory, against all odds. "And Greg Zuerlein sends the Rams to the Superbowl"!
