George Kittle finished the season with almost 1100 yards while missing 4 games. Lets not mislead stats to try to make our TE look better. Hes already good, but lets be real. Hes no George Kittle.
Well, I wasn't trying to mislead. I just searched Kittle's stats on that day. I guess the stats from his last game weren't updated at that time. And, I didn't know he missed 2 games this season.

Anyway, I didn't mislead anything. I just posted season stats at the time with no comments...so, take a long walk off a short pier (kidding!)

What sort of valuation do you think other teams are going to give Reynolds? Because I doubt it's high enough to go much of anywhere in the second round.
I may have over-valued Reynolds but dammit I am not trading Woods.

Okay - different route

I would tag trade Fowler and Reynolds for maybe a high second (possibly low 1st) for the best center available. And again I reiterate - only if they find a center that fits there scheme would I do that.

And then draft receiver/nose tackle (defensive tackle)/inside linebacker with some of the other picks.

I would really consider drafting a receiver if one of the highly rated receivers drops to our spot in the second round.

Free agents that I would sign would be depth at free safety, inside linebacker, and defensive tackle.

I think we are good to go at outside linebacker with Obo, Polite, Ebukam and the other one that I can't remember.

Jeff Holland? Or Landis Durham?

And I'd rather not let Reynolds go. He's shown that he can be a starter in this league. And with the uncertainty surrounding Cooks, I'd keep Reynolds.

lol no worries. I have a personal story about Kittle that involves my brother and his times at Iowa. My family and I will always be Kittle fans because of it.

Patrick or do you like him more at inside linebacker?

Woods is a phenomenal person and a true team player. I love the guy. But he's not the core of the team. Donald and Ramsey are the core on defense. Goff is the core on offense. Woods is one of three 1000+ yard WRs we have. But now, we have a fourth WR (Reynolds) showing promise, a TE who broke out and became a legitimate weapon (Higbee), and a second TE who showed a lot of flashes. We're in a position where we have other needs that could be filled. Woods and Kupp are our two best trade chips of our weapons, and I'm not giving up Kupp.
2018 demonstrated what Woods & Cooks are when Kupp went down. I also love Woody but he's been made by this system and the scheming just as much as he's helped our offense.

But the reason I don't agree with trading Woody is who can they rely on if he's gone. Kupp is the best wideout but after him all of a sudden you have Cooks playing like a dimwit (he was all sorts of effed up after that concussion this year in terms of missing reads in real time) vice his usual sharp self, and JRey who the staff has always talked up but can we rely on him?

I believe Woody is a core piece, he's just a possession option who can do a bit of everything. Which McVay values. Kupp is better because he's basically a micro-TE with his sneaky size and ability to bring in everything thrown his direction. And if we assume that Higbee is going to continue this level of play then that's our top trio in the passing game IMO and I think it's not nearly as good without Woody.

Last but not least however there has been a lot made about Woody's contract. And he's commented on it. Behind the scenes has he let them know he wants to be paid more fairly to his production level? Maybe. And if so then yes I think he gets traded and the Rams draft another receiver in a draft that has a ton of options for us.

You can make an argument that he was one of the best TE’s the second half of the season. I hope he stays consistent, and in the game plan.

Frankly, I look at this draft and see multiple guys who could replace Woods and save us money in the process. I love Robert, but this is a stacked WR class. If there's a year to replace him, it's this year. We have multiple in-house guys who can step up and are in the final years of their contracts and will have the ability to draft a talented rookie to step up after they're gone. I'm not attached to trading Robert, but it might prove to be a smart idea.

It all depends on what he can fetch of course. I'm not happy about the noise he made last season about being unhappy with his contract - a contract that was the best he could get apparently when he signed it. But yeah, the Rams don't really have the cap room to give him something better, without hurting themselves significantly elsewhere, so if they can draft a guy they expect to be a replacement with the pick they get for him, and save a bunch of cap room, great.

I know this is a little off topic but does anyone remember Billy Truax? His name just came into my head while I was looking at this post.

I have a couple problems with this kind of thought process. If the draft class is so deep, then that would lower the trade value of any receiver not considered elite or elite-ish. Another problem I see is you now bring in a rookie that might be a player but obviously would not be top tier - especially if you're going after a center that would also most likely take a year or two to learn to play center better than what we have - to replace a smart, tough receiver in his prime.

Is a third round pick really worth giving up Woods? Possibly. It's just not a move I would make. Could you package Reynolds with a draft pick to move up and get a specific player? Possibly. That's probably more of a move I would prefer.

In the end, it's not really all about the stat sheet on a player like Woods. It's what he brings to your team and in trade scenarios, that is really tough to get value added in return.

To me Tyler Higbee just got placed on the
Dumb ass list .
Was at the Pro Bowl this year holding his Big DNA rifle on TV !! Classy Act !!

Well sure. For me though I am worried about Woods demanding more money. They gave in last year by accelerating money/guaranteeing incentives. I am generally opposed to any renegotiations, and I'm concerned that it will become an issue again, when the Rams are tight against the cap already.

If he honors his contract, of course he should be kept.

there is the concusion problem with cooks so he makes more sense to trade but he has a huge dead cap hit. Reynolds won't get us much in a trade and I think woods would hurt our offense to much. so lets not trade any of them this year witch means we won't have to spend a draft pick on a wr this year. then next year we can trade cooks without the dead cap hit. I think we need to redo as many contract as we can and try to keep as many of our players as we can. less hole to fill means we can use the draft to improve instead of filling holes.

I could very well see a team, let's say the Cheatriots, make a play at Everett. Our FO might feel comfy with Higbee and Mundt or a different #2 TE. The Cheats need a TE and If I were them I'd go after Everett instead of an old Olsen.
