The Bears’ head coach hiring this offseason will be huge for that organization.

Ben Johnson should have his pick of several opportunities. I wonder if Chicago might not be an ideal spot for him.
All depends on if they change GM as well.

Agreed. I just don’t expect Ownership to move on from Ryan Poles. Think he has built a talented roster.

I was a little surprised Eberflus was retained but the Bears did finish 2023 playing good ball

I don’t see Bears’ Ownership as involved in football decisions but for the very highest of leadership roles; and think it’s a patient organization. Could see it suggesting Eberflus getting another season in 2024, and retaining Poles for 2025.

Of course, that is just my conjecture.

Edit / Addition
Now that I think about it. Supportive, stable but mostly hands-off ownership, with a solid GM who generally makes good personnel decisions already in place, plus talent on offense, featuring a #1 overall pick at QB coming-off a somewhat disappointing rookie season ... THAT sounds familiar.

A bright young, innovative Offensive Coordinator to develop the young QB, and get the offense rolling.

Yeah, that really does sound familiar to me.

Chargers gonna Charger! Kicker has illegal kickoff & KC gets the ball at the 40 only down by 1. Thanks Dicker the kicker!
Now KC is already down to the Chargers 34. And an update: Chargers lose on a last second field goal that hits the post and goes in anyway.

I don't hate Thomas Brown. But for all praise McVay showered on him I was perennially irritated by his RB room. I never liked our RB development either. And he didn't do shit for our run game in general.

Then he went to the Panthers where he was working for a known WCO gameplanner and was part of an ineffective offense. After being given the play calling shit wasn't any better.

Due to the ineffectiveness of his offense in Carolina he had to take a job downgrade with the Bears, with pass game coordinator duties. It predictably sucked, given that the pass game coordinator has never really put a good product on the field not to mention he had a rookie QB who was gonna need to fuck up to learn. After Waldron was predictably axed hey what do you know another opportunity for Thomas Brown. And then Eberflus was fired and what do you know Thomas Brown wins again.

That Bears team we saw today, unfortunately demonstrates that at some point no matter how good you are at escaping blame the shit will catch up to you. Again I don't hate the dude. I am just bewildered why he is held in such high regard. His entire run of opportunity post-McVay makes zero sense to me.
