Can McVay break the horrible b/u QB history the Rams have perpetuated over decades and multiple coaching changes?

The Colts have traded for the Pats' Brissett, a significant upgrade over Luck's b/u. We've historically made 2nd & 3rd string QBs look like Montana and Brady over the years, losing games marked down as solid W's and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Can the Colts get him ready in 7 days? Can the Rams win a game they should obviously win?

Can they get him ready in a week? I'd be surprised if he starts against the Rams - and if he does - I would suspect he has a fraction of the offense.

There's no way he'll be fully up to speed in a week. They'd do the kid a disservice to toss him in there.

Did you seriously open two new threads, with different titles, to ask the same fuckin question, when there was already a thread for it?

Well if it bothers you, one was about the trade, the other is about the Rams history of games against b/u QBs which applies more to Tolzien than Brissett given the timing of the trade but hey, I didn’t see a response to either but kudos for the graphics. Actually I thought it was pretty funny.

It doesn't bother me. The gif was supposed to be a part of the original post, but I clicked post without attaching it properly, and when you edit, it doesn't allow you to post images for some reason. It was supposed to be funny. Just giving you shit is all.

Yes on both counts. Jacoby can be 'ready' to play - because he is - but that doesn't mean they can run the whole offense. That should be self-evident. And yes the Rams can win a game they should obviously win. That's also self-evident. If you're asking us to make a prediction in the present based on outcomes of the past, that's a fool's errand. This isn't the 97 Rams at full strength against the 97 49ers with Jim Druckenmiller at the helm. This is the 2017 Rams with all new coaches employing their game plan and strategies to beat the 2017 Colts. If you want my prediction; then yes, they'll be able to handle the Colts. Can something happen that could result in a different outcome? Well, yeah. That's why there aren't many teams who go 16-0. Every team is trying to devise a way to win. Will it mean anything if the Rams lose? No. Just like it won't mean anything if the Colts lose. It's week one.

He did well, I was at the game. He was dinged up too. No chance he can learn a new offense in a week tho so not too o worried.

I don't often make predictions. I have a deal. I don't count my chickens and they don't count me. I just thought it was interesting that the Colts think they need to upgrade the QB position this late in preseason. It's not like picking up a 3rd string TE. That and our peculiar history against teams who lose their starting QB. Sure we won 3 in a row after losing 28-0 to the Niners on opening day but don't think it doesn't matter. We're already at our must-win game of the year unless 2017 doesn't matter.

True. But that hasn't stopped teams from doing it anyway.

I'm sticking by my bet that he starts versus the Rams week 1.

When you score 13 points in all of preseason, you have a guy like Tolzien stinking up the joint, and no real idea when your starting QB (Luck) is even going to start practicing, it'd be silly NOT to bring in another guy. It's not very surprising to me that they'd hit the panic button at this stage of the game. They had chances to sign a veteran earlier than yesterday and elected not to.

That and our peculiar history against teams who lose their starting QB.
It's not peculiar, because it's not the only reason we lost games in the past. It's not like we ONLY lose when facing a backup QB, and win every time we face an opponent's starter. We were just a bad team. You can easily say the same thing about the past as it relates to facing backup RBs. There's just no correlation to today. This is a new team, with new coaches, and new players. If we win it means nothing in terms of the past, and if we lose it means nothing in terms of the past. Other than maybe were just not good again. But week one isn't the time to make such a claim.
