Dean Smith was a legend in the college hoops environment. As a lifelong UNC fan, you rarely, if ever, heard a bad word about him.

I liken him to basketball as I liked Stan Musial to baseball. A true gentleman who loved the sport and never forgot he was an everyman's man.

Rest in peace, Mr. Tarheel. I wish there were more people like him in the college environment today. Our young people could use it.
