How long can gunslinger GM Snead restrain himself? I think if he can make a splash signing without using his first round picks he's going to do it. Edge and RB would seem to be the logical targets. The way to protect his secondary is either pressure from the front 7 or a strong run attack. Williams is a very good RB but his lack of explosive speed doesn't scare anyone. Kupp's explosive plays scares the hell out of DCs. They need that out of their run game.

IMO an edge would have to be more than a one year rental. They won't do another Von Miller. But I think they would go for a two or three year deal with the right RB, The problem is fitting that signing under the cap. That's why looking at Taylor's contract they could give him a multi-year deal and fit this year under the cap. Jonathan is only 24, Christian is 27. Give Taylor a 6 year deal with 2 void year to fit under the cap. It's all about the guaranteed money which is what the player is concerned about. Taylor changes the entire offense.

Brian Burns is 25 so he's worthy of a full contract. Burns changes the defense with Young on the opposite side and Donald and Turner inside. The problem with Burns is the Panthers want too much.

Yeah it's been too quiet lately.

First off I’ll stay on the record of Cam Akers getting lose to his 1,200 yards rushing.

2nd Royce Freeman is a guy The Rams will at some point turn to.
Ronnie Ricers is a little STUD though & at some point this season Sean Mcvay will use that word when talking about him.

3rd Hoecht- your FAVORITE RAM isn’t cutting it as a DC ? WHACHED!! Dude is only going to get better.

—It wouldn’t surprise me if Les Snead makes a Big Time Trade. The thing is is I don’t see it happening right now & not that it won’t happen?

Zach Evans & Zach Vanvakenburg both look like nice young talented players at PON(position of need).

Bryon Young is getting after it, & Johna Williams is just in GREAT SHAPE!! Earnest Brown hasn’t even gotten started, but he still has another year on his contract as well.

Kier Thomas & Copeland are still both on the practice squad. Plus Ochaun Mathis is still on injured reserve.

It would be interesting if he didn't make a splash move and they still won a lot of games. Go into 2024 with a full compliment of draft picks and young studs on the roster. Just need to get them some playoff experience.

We don't know how good (or not) many of these young players may be. Zach Evans, Mathis, etc.

I would love to get Jonathan Taylor on this team.

Not sure if a stud like that will be within reach next year, due to other priorities for early picks next year.

Anyone actually know how much cap room we created by releasing cam?

I posted in the trade thread that the two cap sites have different numbers. It's either $6.6 or 1.8 million in space. Probably have to wait a bit and not sure they ever agree. They have different numbers for some cap hits.

An interesting post for sure. To me it is clearly dependent in Les / Sean's mind what our record is at the bye. If we are 6-2 or 5-3 they may go for it.

Me personally the biggest need is OLB with RB a distant 2nd. Honestly we need one NOW not at week 9. Why? We have the toughest stretch coming up now if we got someone this week by week 5 they maybe acclimated it takes time for players to get in the rhythm of the team. Realistically this won't happen it's too early in the season for teams to give up on a Young or Burns at the elite level. We also do not know how good we are yet meaning we don't want to spend heavily to get a player that will not help us achieve our goals this year.

Lastly RB seems easier right now to fill Taylor can be had assuming his medical checks out he doesn't want to play for Indy. I keep pounding the table for Chandler Jones because he will cost of very little my guess the Raiders will absorb some of his salary to get rid of him he is not a Young or Burns but a solid player if his brain is not scrambled. Currently he was just put on another form of IR non injury related basically saying he can't play but is not hurt.

After 2 games I feel like we are looking really solid on Offense and in 2 weeks we will be even stronger we must shore up our run d and pressures on defense at a minimum.

Under no circumstances should we touch our top 2 picks this year, IMO. Despite how good we have looked, we are not winning the SB this year no matter who we traded for. As much as I think Taylor would be fun on this team, teams paying RB's top 3 money have historically regretted that decision fairly quickly (including us recently). Burns is talented and would help this team, however, he will be very expensive to trade for AND pay. I'd rather shoot my shots in the draft this year for cheap talent, and then sift through the free agent lists with our $ then lose both cap and picks trading for someone. Last I checked, Kyren is one of the best backs in the league so far this year.

Well said.

We're going into week 3 and our rookie OLB has 1.5 sacks. The defense is playing well and the offense is even better. Perhaps these guys know what they're doing after all!!!!

What Taylor is asking for isn't even close to what the Rams paid Ramsey. He wants to be paid on par with McCaffery. If you look at the structure of that contract by adding two void years the Niner's cap hit for McCaffery is a bit over $14M/ yr. Damn they have that much on the books next year for a mediocre RT in Havenstein. If it means cutting Rob so be it. LOL All I'm saying is that it's not over the top thinking compared to the impact it would have.

Taylor would give the Rams a Gurley level threat level at RB. Now with Stafford at QB, throwing to Kupp, Nacua, and Atwell that's a Super Bowl caliber offense all behind a very good OL. IMO the problem is the experience with Gurley left a very negative feeling about paying big money to RBs. But you can say that about any position. If the player gets injured early in the contract yeah it sucks bigtime.

But they have a bonafide Super Bowl caliber QB and WR as well as the GOAT DT Donald. I say take the shot Snead it could mean two more Lombardi trophies.

I love Taylor but I also have to say that Williams has impressed the hell out of me. At this point my only concern is if Williams can stay healthy. Taylor would give us a great combo back there and insulate us vs injury. But the cost has to be within reason.

If he is amenable to an acceptable contract my offer for him would be our round 2 pick. If not then I would pass and draft another back next year.

FREAKING FUNNY!! As much as I am A Homer who drinks The KOOL-AIDE!! The early Draft Picks Les Snead just needs to let me to his DRAFTING!!

2017 - D. Cook to go with Gurley.
Cooper Kupp & George Kittle

2018 - Joesph Noteboom was perfect. The Rams needed to go O’Line.Didn’t like The Brian Allen pick, but not sure who I would’ve picked instead. —Austin Blythe & John Sullivan(bigger guard)

2019 - Taylor Rappp & then trading up for D. Henderson.
—Coming off a Superbowl.
—A RG,WR, & RB. Post the 2020 & on since then.

This year, I say the Rams play with what they have and develop some of the young talent. I still want to see what Evans brings to the table. Next year may be the year to pick up a mid-season addition for the playoff run.

I'm of the thinking the rams will let other teams set the market for burns. Last years offer has absolutely nothing to do with this year. I said it last year when I was livid that Carolina didn't accept that bounty and thought they were so dumb for not doing so. Technically the rams and the rest of the league may have Carolina over a barrel this year. Burns seems intent on testing the free agent market and he knows how wanted he was her and how much we were willing to give up for him. So of course business is business and he will go for the money but also probably feels nice to know how much one organization values you and we will be flush with money to pay him.

Basically I don't see Carolina with as much leverage as others do. Yes ask for whatever you want but also understand you may lose him for squat. I'd give up the first if he signs an extension immediately but if not I offer the going rate but fully understand hesy be there to be had for stand money on a year where we are feeling our way out. I do want to see burns play with AD though. That's my dream
