I think with bringing Powell back, that shipped has sailed and really all they had Kupp doing was fair catching the ball close to the goal line, but IMO, Powell was trustworthy and I'm looking forward to him improving this season.I just don't want to see Kupp returning punts ever again.
Is anyone tracking on how many will be in camp on the roster? Sure would be nice to see some depth of options for them. Obviously punt returners primarily but both have been lackluster for us prior to the end of last season.
IDK, we will see how it plays out, but I truly believe that Powell has the ability to be an all pro return specialist, so I'm betting on Brandon Powell because IMO, he's the best return guy the Rams have had in quite some time.I'd say unless Powell has a great pre-season as a WR, he may be fighting for a job.

That's true, but when you're that good at returning both punts & kickoffs, teams make that exception. Now, maybe the others do have similar abilities, but before Powell's arrival, things were a mess and until I see differently I will bet on Powell. Plus, I believe Powell can offer something as a WR, especially on the Jet Sweep. While I agree with this, taking up roster space as only a Special Teams returner may be difficult when he's competing against 4 other players who will make the roster playing a needed primary position also.

Brian Quick, for those of you playing at home.It still boggles my mind Tutu can’t return worth a shit and isn’t an option for full time punts. Worst pick probably since that second round WR. ( lol forgot his name thankfully)
I see the Rams keeping six WR's not including OBJ if signed would be added later and barring injury. This will be an interesting camp battle IMO. I don't know that there's any favorite for returns other than Powell who may have a hard battle to win a roster spot in that crowded WR room.
Yeah I have to agree the WR depth is nasty. Just nasty. Harris and Skow btw are both strong special teamers who can play gunner plus they're big targets in the passing game. So this is going to get interesting. While I agree with this, taking up roster space as only a Special Teams returner may be difficult when he's competing against 4 other players who will make the roster playing a needed primary position also.

Now if they include Jacob Harris as a WR, but I could see them keeping Harris as a hybrid WR/TE making it 4 TE's on the roster. Again, IMO, if Powell showcases what he did last year on special teams plus maybe being given opportunities at receiver, IMO, I believe he makes the squad.

One or more of these new guys will have to be very good returners to unseat Powell.Four of our new draftees are returners :

If it was me, I'd give Powell a roster spot. We'll see. Roster spots are going to be at a premium more than ever this year. If one of our new draftees can return AND nail down his primary position, ... it won't be a slam dunk for Powell as he's pretty far down the WR depth chart. jmo.

Last year he was both good-scary and reliable.
Lotsa free yards on Returns.
Didn't he do KOs too?

Big NO to Koski. He looked like he was shitting his britches on EVERY punt.Keep in mind that they are bringing back RB Raymond Calais from injury and he was winning the battle during training camp & preseason before his injury in the 2nd game of preseason. J.J. Koski looked like a fish out of water returning punts, so they might try him again, but not sure of the players drafted and the UDRFA who has that ability, but I'm sure we will hear more about that during OTA's.
