With McVay, Snead always seems to grab a late round pick that's a player.

In 2018, it was SJD at #195 (6th). Later he grabbed Travin Howard at #231 (7th) and though the jury is still out on him, he did come on late last year. In 2019, Nick Scott at #243 (7th) came on as well. He had two highlight hits in the postseason and played 100% of the postseason snaps on defense, as well as 20% of the ST snaps. In 2020 Snead took Jordan Fuller at #199 (6th) and he wore the green dot for our D. I gotta believe in Scott and Fuller, we have two good safties. Last year none of the late ones really shined. Skowronek #249 (7th) was a special teams demon and forced to be a receiver but that near touchdown when he was twisting around and that handoff interception didn't look good. I don't know if Snead will get another late round diamond in the rough this year but I'm anxious to see if Chris Garrett #252 (7th) will shine in his second season. Gotta love and pull for those late rounders.

Since 1990 and before that group above, the Rams best late rounder was Ryan Fitzpatrick (#250) but he didn't shine for the Rams, except for that game in Houston his rookie year. We could count Fred Miller #141 (5th) and Brian Young #139 (5th) but in today's NFL they'd be 4th round picks. Not exactly "late".

What rd. was David Edwards.I saw a lot of Rams fans beating him up after the season.

Corey Littleton? Maybe rudfa?

EJ Gaines wasn’t bad.

A couple RB’s the wife beater from Vandy & D. Richardson were a couple nice finds from Snead.

Yeah, I should have included Edwards.....5th round (#169)....and he's started 41 games out of a possible 49. And despite some Ram fans beating him up, he could end up being our RT in the future.

This is pretty tough to predict, although I'm really hoping that for the OL one of either Chandler Brewer or Tremayne Anchrum can blow away the competition at RG. I'm already convinced that reserve Center Coleman Shelton can step in at pivot any time without our losing a step, and perhaps he makes a push at starting LG next year if Edwards is lost in free agency. Evans is the big disappointment so I'm not holding out much hope for him. Alaric Jackson will continue to make developmental progress as our primary swing OT, and Max Pircher is my wildcard for back-up RT now that he's eligible for the 53 roster.

What are the odds of Edwards becoming the Rams RT of the future when he's likely to be our starting LG in 2022 and becomes eligible for free agency after the season ?

I don't know if I'm reading it right but on OTC.com Havenstein has 3 voidable years after 2022. His prorated bonus over those 3 years is 2.304 mil (768,000 per year). So I would think he's either gotta be re-signed (at what price?) or a UFA or if the years aren't voided it's got to be a predetermined salary? Edwards was a LT at Wisconsin and could slide over to RT if we lose Havenstein and re-sign him. The choice would be re-sign Havenstein, which they might do or Edwards, or both. Odds? I have no freaking idea.

I actually thought that Havenstein would have been extended prior to now, but in light that this is yet to occur, anything might happen with him. He could be extended, he could be trade bait, or he may just play out his contract year as our starting RT. If McVay/Carberry come to the conclusion that Jackson/Edwards/Pircher are ready to compete for a starting RT role, then who knows how it plays out ? Also, Edwards is yet to play RT in the NFL since he became an emergency OG in 2019, so I'm not sure he's had many snaps at the position in practice sessions. As it stands today, both Havenstein & Edwards will become eligible for free agency next year, so I'd think a decision on Havenstein should be made fairly quickly.

Can the Rams get the kind of impact from a 4th round pick that they have been so good at finding in the 3rd?
JJ3, Kupp, Earnest Jones?

How many 4ths do we have this year?

The Rams have done fairly well with DB's overall since '12 when Fisher and Snead took the reigns. I don't think they've drafted or mined any Pro Bowlers in the secondary.
J.Jenkins? Tru J ? JJ ?

...but they seem to be able to consistently find guys in the mid/later rounds who you can just plug in at any time and rarely embarrass themselves on the field.

Of the middle rounds, I think the 4th round might be their 'sweet spot' (with McVay and Snead).
They took Kupp, Johsnon, Noteboom, Henderson, Long, Lewis, Burgess and Jones in the 3rd
Reynolds, Ebukam, Allen, Franklin-Myers, Gaines, Hopkins, Brown, Rochell and Harris in the 4th
Kiser, Obo, Edwards and Brown IV in the 5th.

Sure Kupp is head and shoulders above them all but the 4th looks productive.

At this point I don’t know what’s going to happen. I made The Call of a SuperBowl chance with this O”Line.

Now Corbett & Whitworth are gone.So now what? Kromer left, but Zak is still another season in.Carberry into his 2nd season. He was on the Covid list in the beginning of Training Camp.

I agree with the young players.I guess I’ll keep patting myself on the back.Said Ben Sko looked good running 2nd string at WR.Taking passes from Stafford.

Things won’t be the same I’m getting older, but I lived a DREAM. For The Rams to comeback to UCI.I have a lot of history. I’ve done the same with The Lakers Summer League back in the day. Even The Angels winning it all. The Kings as well.

Youth is always the winner & the way to go. I love watching & scouting talent.

Yes - I like T. Lewis & Chris Garrett very much. Can’t believe how good Les Snead & there scouting does with finding talent. I was not a Hollins Fan.He NOW is coming into his Prime though. His talent & Knowledge is going to SHINE in 2022. He showed he can play multiple positions.

Raheem Morris going into his 2nd year as The Rams D” Cord is FREAKING AWESOME!!! F - Connell. Raheem is real the ultimate RAM!! He was all in which is why The Rams won it ALL!!

Some (most) Ram fans don’t know what he means or has meant to this organization. He is a Players coach & Mcvay Learned & Trust him HUGE.

Peace .

This will be our second draft without Brad Holmes. Really curious to see how it goes as it can be a harbinger of things to come, good or.... Less good.

That's how I feel. We'll see if it was Snead, or Holmes.

I don’t think it is solely Snead or Holmes. Their analytics are the plus that gives them the players who fit what they are looking for.

It may be a year early for Chris Garrett but, I think his first step and quickness can get him some PT this year especially if the Rams don't sign a free agent Edge/Pass Rusher. He has a smaller frame at 6' 4" /245 Lbs with long arms. He needed to add a little more weight and strength. From what I read he could be a weight room workout guy. I imagine the AD effect has him working hard too. He may have learned a thing or two being around and watching Von.

A healthy TLew could also break out. We know he has the physical ability.

It's going to be Bobby Brown. He's got the most potential out of any of our 2021 draft picks, the potential to be a peak Haynesworth.

I think the system is in place. They empower their scouts. They listen to them. The scouts are in sync with what the coaches are looking for and they listen to them.

The info is compiled and then it's up to McVay & Snead to make the final decision just like it has been the last 5 yrs.

The Rams have built a system like no other team it appears to grade players via a metric system. And the mental test prospects need to pass is a cut above the league. You here them talking about how the 40 dash doesn’t have nearly as much value to them vs. Other teams. Every position has an unique grading system on & off the field.

Such a good time to be a Rams fan

And you can see that in their salary cap structure. QBs, WRs and TEs....not so much RBs (unless he's a double thread like Gurley)....DT, DE & CBs on defense....not so much S and LBs (unless there's a perennial all pro available).
