So, assuming Snead adequately addresses Edge and CB in FA, what should Rams do at 19?

I’m assuming that Snead got quality starters for both Edge and CB via FA without trading his pick at 19.

At this point the decision at 19 becomes VERY interesting.

Take another blue chip CB that falls?

Or an Edge that fell, for that matter?

Say, how about an elite OC?

Or a top OG or OT still on the board?

Or my favorite, a blue chip WR weapon?

Of course, there’s the ever popular trade down scenario where Snead can add valuable picks (my 2nd favorite scenario)

My point is that IF Snead can get those 2 quality vets at Edge and CB then the draft is his oyster and he can really load up this roster with some serious talent by going in any one of several directions on Days 1 and 2.

What do y’all think? What’s your particular preference?

Should? I'd rather double down on a corner. But I'm on record saying McVay will add a weapon on offense with our first pick.

If we have addressed edge and CB, OL becomes the greatest need.

Have we re-signed Dotson in this scenario? If not, you trade down from 19 and take a guard in the second round.

If we have Dotson signed up, you go BPA at nineteen.

There are a multitude of options. Trade back, trade up, draft OLT, WR, Edge, Corner, etc…. There is no telling at this point.

Edge or Corner will impact us the most for this season. Because the level of play there has been a problem so the upgrade would be significant. This is why I think the best case draft day for us is Latu sitting there, or failing that Arnold. Either would plug in day one with enormous positive impact.

WR potentially has a very big early and long impact. Look at Holt for example of what hitting looks like there. He impacted the offense and team identity profoundly so if that is the choice I'll get behind it and hope defense follows.

LT is the choice that would be felt most on the long term. If we were to hit on that selection the annual OL build is simplified for years. But in the near term the road can be a bit rocky. So if Stafford has let's say 3 seasons this year would be a playoff exit most likely. Even Pace took a little time to settle in and he was a rare prospect. And yes I know it's possible to get year one production but just saying chances are you'll get up and down play that rookie season.

Getting one corner at the beginning of FA certainly doesn't preclude us from getting another in the draft. All CBs on our roster are replaceable. And you can never have enough pass rushers. And we probably have needs at OL and WR.

Umm... so I actually don't think it changes much!

Multiple drafts in a row with loads of top WR talent, not enough top CB talent which there is a shortage. Might be wise to go that route, that said hope we trade down 1-2 times right away to build value and take advantage of this deep ass class for next year and the future.

Not with 1 unless they know something from Stafford we don’t. Us meeting with Nix is for sure to get someone to trade up for him.

any reason to think Q B ?
They've shown an interest in a QB of the future and at the very least someone who can carry the team during a Stafford absence. You know they have to be thinking of the future past Stafford as well, definitely a possibility.

If we address edge and CB in FA, get ready for a draft of mostly offense.

Assuming the talent is there (and by almost every mock, it will be) - the first two picks are interior OL. A safety possibly in the third, and then WR/T/RB/TE/K and then LB/edge/CB late.

I think that would potentially be a mistake though....I think one OL spot has to be filled in FA for us to be super bowl contenders.

Trade down a bit, then take the highest wide receiver on the board. Whether that's Worthy, Mitchell, Coleman, Franklin, whomever, take them. I think we're really underestimating how much of a true need wide receiver is, even though we re-signed Robinson.

Not enough info to decide still. I am probably going with BPA unless we completely fail to address CB or oline before then.
