Blazing hot temperatures in the Lou today, but another stroke of luck as the skies darken as practice begins and provides some much needed cloud cover. Normally workouts start well in advance of the true opening horn, but today the team stayed inside until the last second to avoid the heat. The team seemed in high spirits the whole practice. We've got some gaps but we're starting to gel and find ourselves a little bit.

- Once again, we started with special teams, this time working on the kick return. No real evidence of who will ultimately be the return man on kickoffs, I think there's still a bit to iron out with the backs to know for sure.
- Not that his chances were great to begin with, but Justice Cunningham will have to show a lot more than he did today to even make the practice squad with this team.
Rams Camp hasn't seen hair this luxurious since Danny Amendola Year One.
Filled with blood lust from the sights and sounds of camp, Rampage eats a random fan.
WR Tavon Austin.
WR Austin Pettis takes his rep in the footwork drill.
Austin makes the catch.
Austin, fighting off the jam by Roberson.
Britt grins as he misses the catch...the man literally never stops smiling.
Moe digs out of his cut.
Bailey makes the catch despite a mugging by Jenkins.
Cook gets around his coverage for the grab.
G.T. Ball in the house.
Pettis leaps for it.
Bradford and HC Jeff Fisher watch the action.
- Jordan Harris has a big mountain to climb. He's built like and runs like a tailback, he doesn't really have the quick feet of a split end or slot man. Seems an odd fit.
- As much as the fans and pundits are making of "Britt pushing Quick"...the reality is, neither of these guys is going to get cut. They are mirror images of each other and stand a head taller than any other receiver...or defensive back for that matter. Its too much size and speed to give up to lose either of them.
Our first 11 on 11 action.
Bradford on the pre-snap read.
Hike.
A seemingly quiet moment from DC Gregg Williams, courtesy of a high-speed camera.
Pead is bottled up.
DE Michael Sam launches himself at OT Sean Hooey.
CB Darren Woodard knocks Quick off the ball.
Quick gets open.
Austin adjusts to a very underthrown ball and elevates for the catch in traffic.
TE Lance Kendrick gets behind LB Alex Ogletree.
Bradford lets it fly.
Hill delivers it to WR Chris Givens on a tightrope.
Charge.
RB Tre Mason finds daylight...
...then RB Trey Watts matches him not only in name.
- Austin completely blew the doors off of Roberson coming off the snap, but to his credit, Roberson showed amazing closing speed at the goal line and made a tremendous play in breaking it up.
- Bradford looks a fair bit better today. He's more accurate and he looks more comfortable moving around.
Saffold is shed by DT Michael Brockers in 1 on 1s...
...but makes up for it on the second rep.
Robinson drops into pass pro vs. DE Robert Quinn...
...he reaches on the inside move instead of kick stepping to meet him...
...now his base is too narrow as he swings around the horn...
...leaving him with no leverage as Quinn gets under him...
...now Quinn just needs to drive forward and lift up...
...letting Robinson slide off his side into a hold he must release...
...and that's the anatomy of a sack.
Take 2...Robinson immediately cuts off the inside gap with a kick step...
...now he's in position to keep Quinn in front of him as he makes the same move...
...and keeps his feet moving as Quinn rounds the horn...
...pivoting with Quinn and keeping him out of his body...
...as Quinn drives forward, Robinson keep stepping around...
...now Quinn is too wide and too far off of Robinson's shoulder...
...Robinson stays between Quinn and the passer, no holding this time...
...and that's the anatomy of protecting the passer.
- Its pretty awesome having a defense coordinator again who shouts and swears a lot. I feel its a highly underrated skill on the Rams sometimes. I haven't heard this many F-bombs since Haslett.
- Overheard by Williams: "DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT f****** RALPH MEANS?"
- At one point in practice, in totally unrelated incidents, at one end of the field Fisher was crouching next to Jenkins and shouting in his ear while Williams was chewing on Alexander's a** on the other. Great stuff.
Sam gets the drop on Hooey.
Donald doesn't beat OG Travis Bond, but he does collapse the pocket well.
C Tim Barnes gets the best of Donald the first time...
...then Donald returns the favor.
Saffold keeps Donald contained.
A mighty big hole for Bam Bam.
Bradford calls an audible for Austin.
