The "Deadline came at 12:00 noon ET. So I'm 'Chomping-at-the-Bit' to know Too!!!Was anybody claimed, from any team? Too soon to know?
Claimed players must be put on the 53. I'm totally not surprised no other team in the league wanted him on the active roster. All the old memes about "distraction" or "media circus" and Combine numbers are still around even though he has 4 games of preseason showing that he can very much play in this league.
Unless the Rams make room for him on their PS, I expect for Michael Sam to be out of the league... I'd love to be wrong about that because I think he showed he can play and I'd love to think of the NFL as a meritocracy, but...
You can't tell me, with the ever growing need of competent DEs, and backups DEs, no one claims this guy.
He proved he can rush, just needs to be developed. I'm calling cowardice on the entire NFL if not a single team picks him up.
Then someone should, at minimum, put him on their PS. Let him develop.OR a one dimensional pass rushing LE who has to line up wide to make plays and can't play LB has limited fits in the NFL. That's possible, too.
Or, perhaps a lot of coaches and front offices don't want an openly gay player because of bigotry.Either he's not as good of a role player a lot of people thought he was or no teams want to take part of that media circus.
If by one dimensional you mean an high effort and chase type player, than I agree with you. It surely doesn't mean the ONLY thing he is a pass rush specialist. He can be effective against the run. I recall another high effort, chase type DE who made a pretty good name for himself starting with this organization. Grant Wistrom. And please, I am not saying Sam is the player that Wistrom was, just similar style who can be successful in this league.OR a one dimensional pass rushing LE who has to line up wide to make plays and can't play LB has limited fits in the NFL. That's possible, too.
