Roethlisberger, Rivers among NFL's most underrated
By Dan Hanzus/Around the League Writer
Who's the most underrated quarterback in the NFL today?
If you ask us -- and let's just say you did -- the top two choices have to be Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers. Both quarterbacks were revealed on Tuesday's episode of NFL Network's The Top 100 Players of 2014.
Roethlisberger (No. 30 on the list) and Rivers (No. 34) have plenty in common. Both were first-round picks in the 2004 draft and both have played their entire careers with one AFC team. Their career numbers are strikingly similar in several key categories.
Roethlisberger, of course, owns two more Super Bowl rings than Rivers, which might explain why Big Ben is ahead in the Top 100.
You can argue that both Roethlisberger and Rivers were two of the top five quarterbacks in the league last season. That their the eighth and ninth QBs on this list shows how they get lost in the shuffle when discussing the game's best signal-callers.
