Rams WR Ben Skowronek reflects on his first career touchdown | Featured on Rams Revealed Ep. 91

The celebration may have been lacking. However, the sincerity was not.

Following his first professional touchdown, a go-ahead rushing score deep in the third quarter to lift the Rams to victory over the Carolina Panthers, Ben Skowronek's only regret was a lack of foresight.

"I didn't have anything planned," Skowronek said of his end zone uncertainty. "The celebration was not good."

Fortunately for the Los Angeles Rams, the execution was perfect. Allen Robinson II blocked two Panthers on the perimeter as Skowronek found open field on a 17-yard dash, with a top speed of 19.45 miles per hour, according to NextGen Stats.

"Next time maybe I'll think of something on Saturday night before the game," the second-year wide receiver added.

The best touchdown celebrations in Los Angeles, at least so long as Odell Beckham Jr. remains a free agent, belong to tight end Tyler Higbee. While he's yet to register a score in 2022, his repertoire is deep and proven. And so it meant a lot to Skowronek that someone he looks up to as a mentor was more concerned with the play than the pose – or lack thereof – that followed.

"I was talking to Higbee this morning about it," the 25-year old said. "(He told me), 'That was the most excited I've ever been for a touchdown.' Higbee's been kind of taking me under his wing the past two years."

"That play right there was such a good demonstration… of seeing the guys so happy for their teammates," Sean McVay told us Monday on the Coach McVay Show. "They were fired up for him and that's what you love."

Skowronek is our guest on this week's Rams Revealed. And over the course of the conversation, he documents his progress within the offensive system, analyzes how the return of Van Jefferson could unlock more of the playbook, and previews a critical Week 8 showdown with San Francisco.

The celebration was there was no celebration. I love it when Kupp scores a TD and just flips the ball to the referee. I’m not anti-tattoo but It’s like a twenty something young adult without a tattoo - there’s just as much of a statement when one doesn’t have one these days. And I can’t stand it when 20 defensive players run down to the end zone with the ball after every damn turnover. Act like you’ve been there before and you merely did your job. Now all you hoodlums hopped up on hooch and wacky tobaccy stay off my lawn!!!

Extremely impressed by Skowronek's performance this year. Definitely a chess piece for the future, jack of all trades type player

Before this season... soooooooooooo many on here was completely writing him off because he had a couple of bad reps as a rookie seventh rounder.
I didn't think he would make the roster as a rookie.. but once he did, tried to pay attention. Glad I did.
Seeing him hit that end around was great... a 6-3, 225 versatile athlete MOVING... he hit 19.8.

We're seeing him grow into a weapon... not just a special teams guy.

I'm really enjoying his growth as a lead blocker and swiss army knife in this offense. His size and toughness and better-than-you-think athleticism are a nice combination.

What will happen when Van returns. That's what I'm interested to see. But this offense is basically a possession offense now. They don't have the explosives producers to be what they have been in the past. So be good at what you should be good at. Possess the fuck out of that ball. Grind teams down with completions and conversions on third down.

This is why I think the run game looms as a key for us. They need it to protect this OL.

I also believe if the run game gets going, the Offensive Line gains confidence and it can translate to their pass blocking too. Just pancake your guy after the body blows they will tire and fatigue makes cowards of us all!

No doubt you have coached the game with that statement.

There's nothing a oline loves more than running the football. because running the ball allows them
to attack instead of just protect, and if they get to pull, and lay out an unsuspecting defender
coming across the LOS??
Hell that's like scoring a td in their world
It fires them up and that translates to better pass protection as well as make
defense unable to tee off.
