Ty Nsekhe is now rated 36th among all tackles at PFF. Havenstein #27.

With 2 tackles per team… around #32 would be league average for 64 starting tackles.

That's great for a backup, imo..
I believe Havenstein is battling through injuries this season.

Two months from now.......

Can the Rams afford not to have a 2023 contract offer to UFA LT Ty Nsekhe.

LG Matt Skura might have also earned some serious consideration for a backup interior OL position (LG/OC/RG)

Look we need big upgrades at these positions. Especially LT and LG. Shelton or Allen at Center, Brewer or Bruss at RG and Havenstein at RT.

We can't pretend that any combo of what we have is good enough because it's not.

I agree, but I dunno who would shake free even if we could afford them...

Resigning both are no brainers to me and a possible major mistake if they don't.
Those deals would be getting done now.....esp Nsekhe given the situation at LT depth.

This is problem with moving Shelton to C right now.
I prefer Shelton at C but moving him then weakens the LG spot.
If the Rams land a FA LG that is an upgrade Im all for moving him to C, until then, can't see that making sense.

Carberry also might be planning to attack the OC position by throwing a large net too. Might resign UFA's WWC's veterans Skura & Toner to go with Shelton/ Allen plus the drafting of a young talented future starting OC in the draft. Going in this direction is the plan I would sign up for.

Drafting a center appears to be the top need in this future OL. Thinking the Rams will be able to sign affordable solid good starting OL'ers is a waste of brain cells.

Going into the off season:

C - Shelton, Allen, Kolone (?)
G - Bruss, Brewer, Anchrum, Kolone, Jackson (?)
T- Havenstein, Noteboom, Arcuri, Thomas, Jackson (?)

That's 11 guys and we know they'll have at least 15-16 by the time mini camps and OTA's start.

So will it be via free agency? But who? A center? A guard? A tackle?
Feel pretty sure they're going to draft an OL or two? Who?
And I'd bet my house they're going to sign a couple of UDFA OL.

Every year there are a fair number of Ram fans who say, "they gotta go OL early and often" and every year they don't. There's something about their OL philosophy that doesn't jive with Rams fans philosophy. They seem to like Anchrum and Brewer. Arcuri is a possibility as a backup. Thomas? We know they like Noteboom, Bruss, Jackson and Shelton so I would think if they're all healthy by August, they're all in the plan. It's going to be interesting watching for a UFA pickup and then the draft.

I like the center from Minnesota (Bradbury) in free agency and the OG/C from TCU, Avila. He's versatile and big 330 lbs. Has played both positions effectively well. 3rd round? 4th if we can trade down a bit in the 2nd and pick up a 4th? Of course I don't know crappola about all the prospects, so there's obviously others who can be had in the draft.

I guess Nsekhe's not doing as well as I thought he was. Well, I still think he was a great pickup for us. Our run game has had a definite upswing. We've seen how valuable and hard-to-come-by competent OLers are.

I believe that Ty Nsekhe PFF grades for his six 2022 season starts vs Joseph Noteboom's six 2022 season starts would be better. Plus Noteboom's average annual salary is $13.4 million whereas Nsekhe's $1.1 million.

C - Allen, Shelton, Skura
G -Shelton, empty, Bruss, Anchrum, Skura, Jackson, Brewer, Thomas
T - Havenstein, Nsekhe, Jackson, Acuri, Thomas, Brewer, Noteboom

12 guys that I can see.
Assuming Kolone, won't be brought back and Noteboom won't be ready near the start of the season.
I would love to fill the empty G spot with a FA starter and maybe another FA as well along with a draft pick or two.

Those are the options & how The Rams decide is another story.Kolone won’t be back & a couple on the list are FA’s. Those will be the biggest questions. The health & risk will depend what Rhe Rams really have to decide on how many O@Lineman they want.
The draft should always be a tool.Mcvay trusted a lot of the players on the roster.Depth & how Les Snead fills it has a lot to do with the numbers & what Mcvay wants.
The reason not drafting a Center in 2021 was bad was only because of value, position & need(depth).Logan Bruss is like a rookie, but then again The numbers have to add up?

—Right Now I’m looking at this O’Line group & it’s SCARY!! The Rams didn’t think this through & trusted in the untrusted in Noteboom & Allen.
Another words THE RAMS went CHEAP on players that had injury concerns since 2019 & in 2018 God forbid The faith was on that SuperBowl appearance. I still hate John Sullivan getting cut,or being replaced with a solid G

With Noteboom's injury one that could potentially make him miss time early in the season and Jackson having issues with blood clots, I'd bring Nsekhe back just in case those two have setbacks.

If Bruss can make big strides in year 2, it would make me feel a lot better about this OL. He looked baaaaaaad as a rookie though...at least to me in what (admittedly) limited action I saw him in.
