Obviously, eventually, the Rams will sign or re-sign someone. But since that hasn't happened yet, I was curious what the depth chart would look like:

QB - Goff, Wolford

RB - Gurley, Henderson, Brown, Kelly

WR - Cooks, Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, Webster

TE - Higbee, Everett, Mundt

LT - Noteboom, Evans
LG - Corbett, Brewer
C - Allen, Shelton
RG - Edwards, Demby
RT - Havenstein, Evans

DE - Fox, SJD
NT - Gaines, SJD
DE - Donald, Smart

OLB - Matthews, Ebukam, Obo, Patrick, Polite, Carraway, Lawler, Holland
ILB - Kiser, Young, Reeder, Howard, Patrick

CB - Ramsey, Hill, Long, Williams, Deayon

S - JJ, Rapp, Scott, Gervase

P - Hekker

K - (empty)

LS - McQuaide

I only included players under contract and RFAs or ERFAs, who I assume will be tendered today. Some things that jump out to me:

IF we re-sign Whitworth and Blythe, I think we're done with the OL - I could see drafting an OL only if it's by far the BPA for them. Adding those two gives us 8 guys who have started multiple games - that is something few teams can boast. It also pushes both Allen and Noteboom to back up positions along with Evans.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we didn't touch the OLB position - lots of bodies there, starters and at least two guys with potential as backups.

DE - I really like Fox. I wouldn't necessarily hate it if he ended up starting, but I love him as a backup.

ILB - is there currently a team worse than this at ILB? That plays a 4-3 and only needs ONE starter? I don't think so. HELP!!!

S - who knows how Staley will handle it, but the 3rd safety seems to be playing more and more for a lot of teams - I don't think Scott or Gervase is ready for that yet.

Ideally, we would sign starters for:

LT
C
DE
ILB

Then focus on DE, ILB and S in the draft.

Use 2020 to evaluate Noteboom, Allen, Evans, Edwards and Corbett - and then upgrade the OL if needed next offseason.

Nice Job
We have lost 2 starters if we fill those positions with equal or greater value we should be improved. There are still plenty of options at the positions we have lost to FA

I really hope McVay isnt counting on Noteboom and Allen to start this year or atleast has some free agent or draft competition for both... Im not comfortable with either starting given their injury history and McVay not giving the starting o line (Whit I get but 1st yr starters?!) meaningful snaps in the preseason...

DL seems set for now. SJD, Gaines, AD and Robinson are all here for the next two years.

ILB, S and CB will be high priorities - thinking logically, Hill will probably be an average starter for us next year which means some team will pay him $8 million. Unless they see Long as replacing him and Williams in the slot.

ILB needs a starter, S and CB starters next season (if we lose JJ and Hill) - and again, third safety could play a lot.

I could see our day 2 picks going that direction. Then I think we will see RB, OL and K or WR late.

At this point... with our earliest pick I am thinking oline, linebacker.
I am thinking linebacker, safety unless there's a spectacular running back sitting there.
We are thin on the defensive line and edge rusher and cornerback.

CB has 2 upcoming free agents in Ramsey and Hill, wont sign both, better draft a replacement for 1 this year.
S has starters, day 3 pick or UDFA makes sense.
ILB needs some more help, OLB, well cant have enough pass rushers, can see 1 of each.
DL has starters and backups for a couple of years, certainly wont pass on one, but can see not drafting one either.
OL Blythe is replaceable at C, seems the Rams have set starters and depth at the other spots. Drafting a C that can start for the next 10 years is entirely possible this year.
RB, dont see drafting one, unless Gurley is moved.
WR, yes take one late to develop, have a roster spot, best WR class in a while, take advantage.
TE, looks like a poor year to draft one, day 3 at best.
QB, well of course Goff is the starter for the next few years, finding a cheap backup is becoming more of a challenge, not a bad idea to draft one day 3.

Currently:

QB - Goff, Wolford

RB - Henderson, Brown, Kelly

WR - Cooks, Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, Webster

TE - Higbee, Everett, Mundt

LT - Whit, Noteboom, Evans
LG - Corbett, Brewer?
C - Blythe, Allen, Shelton?
RG - Edwards, Demby?
RT - Havenstein, Evans

DE - SJD
NT - Robinson, Gaines, SJD
DE - Donald, Smart

OLB - Floyd, Ebukam, Obo, Patrick, Polite, Lawler, Holland?
ILB - Kiser, Young, Reeder, Howard, Patrick, Floyd

CB - Ramsey, Hill, Long, Williams, Alexander?

S - JJ, Rapp, Scott, Gervase, Alexander?

P - Hekker

K - (empty)

LS - McQuaide

[? means not sure/doubtful we can count on them for 2020].

This shows pretty clearly how decimated the roster has been this offseason.

Looking this over I see multiple draft needs (not wants):
IOL: well, duh
RB: mid rounds OK, but we need someone.
WR: great class, need depth for the future
CB: need young depth now (Deayon gone)
Edge: a stud would be great, but only a stud. We have plenty of guys with potential.
NT: Robinson = one year bandaid.
K: no money for The Leg.
DE: who backs up SJD?

Hoping our ILB youngsters can do it.
Work your magic Les. Yikes.

BC

The draft should be to focus on linebackers, O line, and d line. They also need a vet QB, RB and a kicker.

Call me crazy but I think our interior lineman make-up one of our deepest positions.

Since we have Whitworth and Havenstein under contract.
That leaves proven players like Blythe for starting center backed up by a hopefully improved Allen and a player they wanted to retain in Shelton.
I like that combination.

That leaves us three deep in proven offensive lineman that can play guard in Corbett, Edwards and Evans.
If the injury bug hits us, Noteboom should be rounding out into shape.

Call me crazy, (again) but the second half production I saw out of this unit is giving me the warm fuzzies that are offensive line will be pretty dang good.
That gives me some good hope that our offense can control the ball better this year.
And that should help our defense get up to speed over the first half of the season.
I think the Rams will be trending upward pretty strong by midseason.
Biggly.

I agree with your optimism on the OL, sans center. I view it as a gaping hole as the best we can realistically hope for out of the current candidates on the roster is "adequate." Personally, I have seen enough from all of them to feel strongly we need an upgrade in a big way there (though Corbett is an interesting option, I am just not sure of his ability to anchor against larger DT's). Add a center and I think we're good to go entering the season.

You're not crazy!

Looks like Snead has this interior OL well stocked in numbers. In addition most of the below IOL'ers are versatile to play any of these 3 posts.

LG- Corbett/ Shelton/ Kolone
OC- Blythe/ Allen/ Trewyn
RG- Edwards/ Brewer/ Demby

All I would think that needs to be done here is to draft talented OC or sign a well seasoned OC with starting experience before the regular season begins that will not have any effect on the future CDPA's.

I'm not too happy with the Rams failing to tender RFAs Deayon and Carraway. Now that Brock is back the Fox non-tender is understandable but the other two meh. Not an enormous deal in the big scheme of things but it's the decision making that concerns me. I would have liked to see both those guys (especially Deayon) in camp.

Agreed on Center. And I would add an OT as well, where we hopefully have a shot at someone who can win our LT job in 2021 but for now can improve depth and competition.
