Former Ravens GM and Senior Bowl Director Phil Savage explains what NFL teams get out of Pro Days. Pro days allow teams to fill in the blanks for some of the players, getting last little bits of info. It’s a chance for scouts to meet up with guys who are flying under the radar who maybe didn’t go to the Combine and may not be drafted. You start recruiting them to sign after the draft if they don’t get drafted. Pro days for QB’s allows for scouts to see the ball come off their hand live and in person. You can see if the ball is coming off with explosiveness, good tight spin, something that isn’t always apparent on film. On the other hand the Pro days for QB’s are the ones you get the least out of because they are so scripted. (4:59)
