Dr. Ram,
I think the good news is we feel the roster is improved at virtually every position, but we certainly know we can get stronger in every area moving forward. Jeff and Les have done a great job building the roster in a very short time, using every means available to them -- draft, free agency, waiver claims, practice squad, etc. That being said, improving the roster has to be on their minds everyday, and if there are players available in camp, at the cutdown period or at the trade deadline that can make us better, we have to be aggressive in finding the best possible players to improve this team.
Long-term, I don't know if there is one position that stands out as needing to be addressed, but each season highlights a team's strengths and weaknesses, and I'm sure 2013 will do the same. There will likely be a position that we feel strongly about now that may need to be tweaked next year and there may be a position that we have some new faces at in 2013 that will become a strength and don't need attention. The benefit of being the youngest team in the NFL (again) is that we have a lot of room for growth, the downside is we have a lot of room for growth. Getting a chance to watch all of these young players stay in the same system for another year and play more games will help us understand who is going to reach their potential and who needs some more time to get there.
The good news is that once again we have 2 first round picks in order to improve our team, and we will be able to add players who can make a difference. 9 starters on defense are under contract for 2014 or more and 9 of the projected starters on offense are under contract for 2014 or more along with all three specialists. That means if the team continues to get better, we should be able to use the draft and free agency next year to strengthen the team rather than replace players, and I would still count on us being active in pro personnel for the rest of the year.
How's that for a non answer!
