It should be noted - that in 1961, there were only 14 teams drafting players. Which is to say, Deacon Jones was picked at # 186. Today, the 186th pick is a 6th round player.

As a side note, Deacon Jones was stumbled on by the LA Rams, who were scouting some running backs - and this defensive tackle was outrunning the backs they were scouting.....
