Hopefully his cover skills will be better. Hoecht was a decent player but could not match up well in pass coverage.
Good point! He will be better than Hoecht at everything other than setting an edge. That said, I doubt he will be asked to do that.
According to Russini, 4.5 sacks came when not playing OLB.
Sounds like Jo Stew would be a great 2nd-4th and less than 5 weapon and could play off ball LB as well. Good scouting by the Rams.
man...
i'm really thinking inside linebacker...
this kids highlites are pretty impressive...
just imagine him exploding through a hole and addressing the running back with a wall of " here's a kiss for ya sweetheart,
now takethat shit back to the huddle"...
his power reminds me of verse, but his frame screams middle LB...
my 2 cents...
go rams
slo
This pick has to be an early Christmas gift for Shula. This is going to be the player he deploys all around the front 7 to create havoc and generate pressure. Have a good feeling about Stewart.
"Yikes" - Brennen JacksonCurious what kind of playing time he'll see since we have solid edge players now.
I can't wait to see how Shula uses him. He can be more than an Edge pass rusher. He has to be better at Lber than Reeder. I wondered if the Rams would pick a Mike Green Edge while having BY play some off-ball LBer. Steward fits that scenario a guy you can move around. He will get a lot of PT.
Hampton turned himself into a solid special teams player, though. Not every fifth round pick makes it in the league, and he has. What a FREAKING JOKE ! Your dreaming. He wouldn’t even be able to cover as good as Hoecht !
The dude that has that talent though is Jared Verse.I remember when Chris Long would cover in the flat. Jared Verse wants to be a difference maker.
This guy The Rams just drafted has to keep everything in front of him.Now Nick Hampton is a guy Mcvay has liked & talked about. Not nor have been a Fan.Still think it was a wasted pick.
Mcvay always likes edge rushers.Keir Thomas is a player he compares him to,but a step up.He likes his rushing style & to mix things up.
5th rd ? Ok -Hampton turned himself into a solid special teams player, though. Not every fifth round pick makes it in the league, and he has.
