OK
So, I am a hard core golfer to get that out of the way first.
I've never been to the Waste Management Phoenix event, which is unique in the party scene.
What you do get at golf tournaments -
Warm weather, so there are hot girls in shorts or sun dresses.
If you want to walk around, you can. If you want to sit in bleachers or on the grass, you can.
If you want to drink beer in the sunshine, you can.
You can take the kids or not.
If you have a favorite player, best bet is to find out his tee time beforehand and then get out to the course about an 1-1/2 before his or her tee time. Most tour players hit the range at least an hour before their tee time to warm up.
I will always try to sit in the bleachers at the range to watch Rory McIlroy or Adam Scott hit balls...does wonders for my swing to match their rhythm.
Next, they'll go to the putting green to hit some putts before heading to the first tee.
You'll want sunscreen and good walking shoes. You'll still have a lot of walking around to do.
Look at the weather forecast, just as though you're playing. There is not a lot of shelter in case of a thunderstorm.
There are plenty of food and drink tents out at the course, so you should have no worries there.
Port a potties can be overwhelming in July and August! Beware!
But no other professional sport lets you get as close to the players as at golf tournaments, so that part is cool.
