Perfect example is how "experts" are responding to Bills @ Rams. The dominant story appears to be "superman" Josh Allen and a deficient Bills defense. In jumping atop Bills defensive woes, there is a brief mention about Rams great offense when healthy. Duh. We've been saying that for months when the same experts said the Rams offense was bad, while never offering the injury caveat

Meanwhile, Josh Allen is the MVP candidate that scored 6 TD's and he's just so great and not so much the Rams backend was overwhelmed./bad. It seems that whatever perspective the expert has is influenced by how much/little that expert respects the teams involved (regardless of the game itself). Sometimes the expert just low-key hates a team, like Kay Adams has residual hate for the Rams moving back to LA and Mina Kymes has underlying love for the Hawks.

So what do you think of my theory? Crazy or spot on?

I think it depends on the media member. There are some who always give the Rams a lot of credit.

Add to that the Bills are a super bowl favorite and Allen an mvp favorite so they naturally get media love.

I don't think it's pure media bias but ratings grab.

Most of the talking heads are most concerned with what their readership wants to hear,and not have to dig too deep into the game facts. That takes too much study and time.

The media, networks and talking heads pander to the largest fan bases, even when they stink and are irrelevant.

More fans = more viewers/listeners.

Our Rams aren’t on that list.

I'll also add i found it bothersome that the media was more about making excuses why the Bills lost with no thought to maybe the Rams are also a good team that can beat any other on a good day.

I’m definitely onboard with the media bias, it’s pretty much human nature. And, as your examples show, everyone has them. Some are nurtured by their jobs others by lifetime alliances.

Bottom line, most of them were wrong in predicting this game so they are licking their wounds.

I think most talking-head shows that air every day have a lack of depth and lean into narratives more than data.

That's one reason I really like The Athletic Football show.. it's much more about the actual games and teams. They had a shit ton of praise for the Rams after that game... obviously focused on the offense.

If you have to talk about the entire league every day for a couple of hours and be entertaining for as many people as possible.. you're rarely going to hit it all right.

Not pumping up the awful biased media, but the Rams are 7-6. They don't have a stellar record at this point in the season and are not even in possession of a wild-card if the season ended today.

So, why should the media waste their time on the Rams? That's kinda where I think things are in the eyes of the media at this moment.

Because a journalist is supposed to be objective and they aren't, which I am calling out. I know I am Don Quixote considering the windmill, but journalists and historians (which I am) have considered that objectivity was/is an impossible task. (So why try?)

It seems to me that reaching for a higher goal of dispassionately analyzing the facts while synthesizing them with what is seen on the field is what an honest, fair report should be. Reach for the impossible and the product will be much better.

Ok, I misunderstood your thoughts. I reread your post and caught the part about "when healthy", but not have acknowledged injuries throughout the entire season thus far, until the Bills game.

Kay looks like she has gotten younger. She has to be in her 30s. But looks about 20 in this video. I mean, she worked for the Rams in St Louis and rumor her and Danny Amendola had a fling so she has been around a bit.

Certainly not gonna argue this^^; but after a game like that, it would be nice to hear some discussion on it when I look for clips from sports talk shows.

It’s not like the opinions and observations were flawed, it’s more that the mighty Rams victory was pretty much ignored—the focus on Allen’s performance in a loss.
