The visits to team facilities for NFL Draft prospects ended Sunday, but teams can still go to campuses to work out players.
So the Rams are going for the bulk discount.
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Rams are going to Texas A&M to work out quarterback Johnny Manziel, tackle Jake Matthews and wide receiver Mike Evans.
It’s an interesting play for the team picking at No. 2 and No. 13, for both their own needs and trade-trolling.
While they’ve suggested a commitment to Sam Bradford, that might be short-sighted because of his ACL surgery and his contract status. Their quest for receiving help in recent years has been well-documented, so Evans could fill a role for them (though they have a lot of young receivers to develop).
But of the lot of the Aggies, Matthews might make the most sense for the Rams if they’re thinking of their own picks.
With Jake Long coming off an ACL tear of his own, the Rams could use another quality tackle, even after investing in Rodger Saffold to play guard.
