Here's a fun statistic.

Jared Goff has taken 12 sacks thus far this season. Two QB's who have started for their teams since the start of the season have taken less sacks. Brissett has taken 11, and Prescott has been sacked 10 times.

Here's another interested stat though... Jared Goff has the 3rd most attempts in the league this year. Brissett is 17th in attempts and Prescott is 16th in attempts.. Jared Goff will be first in attempts pretty soon as well, since Kyler Murray has one more attempt and one more game played and Dalton just got benched.

So, Goff has the best sack rate in the league.

Now lets take one more look at the Cowboys and Colts, this time at their offensive lines. Anyone want to guess where the Colts rank in terms of their line? First, best in the league. Cowboys? 4th best in the league. Brissett and Prescott have taken one and two less sacks than Jared Goff while they stand behind the first and 4th best offensive lines in the NFL.

Jared Goff? Well he has to stand behind an offensive line that is ranked.... 31st. Just barely above the Miami Dolphins.

So, Jared Goff, the NFL passing leader, with the most yards, most attempts, and best sack rate is doing all of this behind one of the worst lines in the league.

Fix the offensive line and Goff likely becomes the MVP favorite.

Take my unbiased poll.

Goff is definitely not the problem, or even A problem in any way.

Kid's 25 and he's already making throws Brady wished he was doing at that age. One can argue that it's pass happy game so expectations are higher but I don't expect QBs to hit their peak until late 20s/early 30s. Goff has plenty of time to refine the nuances of his quarterback play.

Very well written. Great analysis except we did not make any moves at the trade deadline other than Corbett referencing the oline. We have what we have other than trying a slightly different combinations adding Corbett somewhere on the line. It is my opinion that the solution is for McVay to change up the offense a little to aid Goff and hide our deficient line.

I think McVay has been adjusting, and will continue, but there's only so much you can do with that deficiency.

Removing Demby was addition by subtraction.
It didnt cure our woes at the interior, but it has improved the unit a bit. Not a ton, but at least it's an improvement.

Hopefully, lesson learned by our managment and coaches to keep this unit up to par.

Loved the poll!

Good arguments, too, Blue. Goff will be chasing around respect in this league until he retires. I love the guy, and know that good things will come, and that he will continue to get better.

Shhhh...The "Talking Head" collective would implode if this gets out, I mean what would the narrative be then?

But but but this just doesn't jive with my preconceived notions or biases.
How can I start 10 threads a week about Goff needing to be better if he isn't the problem?
Gahh guess I will just wring my sweaty hands over Gurleys body language and write up a post featuring 15 RBs in the 2020 draft that the Rams should replace him with....

Pump the brakes on the Brady comparisons with ANY QB in the league LOL.

Haha, I think the frustration comes from irrational fear of going back to being a losing team. As for me, I never saw any cause for concern at all. Does he make "WTF" throws from time to time? Yes. Truth is the guy is still learning. More to the point, he's evolving and no longer being babied. Goff doesn't have the luxury like some offenses relying on 3-5 yard routes. He's putting his neck on the line every time he drops back aiming for the sticks nearly every time. This dude is so god damn greedy he'd rather go for your throat keeping the defense on edge 90% of the time and I F*CKING LOVE THAT.

The only problem is, this makes him more susceptible to interceptions and he misses guys that are wide open. How does one say he is regressing, but the man is being given more responsibilities on 5-3 team with a non existent running game, shoddy offensive line yet still has a top 10 offense. The only thing that's regressed is literally his comfy offensive line. And you know what, I'm glad; yeah I said it. We need to fix the line 100% for sure, but for now its good that he's adapting to having an inconsistent one rather than having it smooth sailing all of the time.

Bottom line is the offense is evolving. I've said it once, I'll say it again. McVay was exposed a little bit, he's adapting. Exposing McVay means that Goff was exposed too, because now he can't just rely on scheming. Play calling will get better, and Goff will get better. I never believed the dude was elite yet. But I have very few guys in that category in the first place. Goff is good, with his O-Line getting back to any sort of normalcy he'll be great. And in two years, he'll be even greater. OH ITS TRUE...

I believe Goff will be one of those guys that doesn't get acknowledged for how good he truly is until he retires and everyone looks back on what he did.

Tough young man.

Never missed a game (that I can remember).

Gets right up after a sack, stands in there like it never happened, and takes another heavy hit (See SB and SF game).

You cannot "coach" that.

Either you got it or not.

He is definitely one of the best young pocket passers in the game today, with his best football still probably 3-5 years away.
The Rams have zero chance of finding anyone better any time soon.
