I would recommend all Rams fans listen and watch. It's long but I would not fast forward or jump around.
It can be listened to over time.
I thought this was a great interview. Kupp is amazing. Personable and friendly, and all that shit but damn! Focused, Mature, Intense, Professional, Dedicated, Serious ... just really Locked-in ... even when being relaxed and social (and he is both those things). However, this guy loves what he does and is Truly ALL-IN.
From a wide receiver point of view, the man is Brilliant ... in my opinion.
Edelman is OK. Seems like a cool dude. Trying to do an entertaining show. A little annoying at times but when he is focused on football and wide receiver play, it allows for Kupp to shine. When he is not focused, I'm like ... "Shut the Fuck-up Julian and let Cooper talk because he is fascinating to listen to"
Some comments:
Really liked how Kupp corrected Edelman and/or interjected into the discussion a simple point ...
"We (McVay and the Rams) don't do it that way. or, That's not the way we (McVay and the Rams) do things."
I believe McVay has created a foundation and environment that he believes in, and does not give a damn if it's done that way anywhere by any one else. I think the Rams are unique except to the extent that some of McVay's former coaches copy many of the things he has and is doing with the Rams.
Loved how when Edelman did the weak-ass but media-popular narrative that McVay was 'star-struck' by Belichick in the Super Bowl, Kupp just dismissed that as ridiculous. Repeated that point several times.
Found it very interesting that Kupp (and to a lesser extent Edelman) don't like it when they are compared to other quality NFL wide receivers; and it's always to other White WRs. Edelman seems miffed but amused by it but Kupp clearly does not like it at all. Mentioned that he has often been compared to Jordy Nelson then aggressively pointed-out that his game and skill-set are totally different from what the former-Packer did.
Building, on that, later in the show, the old Seahawk teams were discussed, and one of Edelman's two boys (producers?) referenced the great Steve Largent and immediately compared his game to both Kupp and Edelman. The look on Kupp's face is priceless. Kind of disgusted, like he wanted to say ...
'What the Fuck, you fat bastard! What were we talking about ten minutes ago?!? Our games (Kupp and Edelman) were totally different; and neither of us were similar to Largent.'
By-the-way, Edelman's other guy was just as dumb and useless. In one of his few contributions to the show, he summarized the Rams and Niners road to the NFC Championship Game (the primary topic of the show is to focus on one huge game ... in this case, the 2021 NFCCG). So this dip-shit mentions an easy Rams' win on the road against the Cardinals in the Wild Card Round. UGH! Of course, that game was played at Sofi.
This is a discussion that made me appreciate and respect Cooper Kupp even more than I did already; and be even more grateful he plays for the Rams. Wow!
