Found this short clip on YouTube about our punter, and the effects he has on the ball based on his kicking technique. It's a short video (only a few minutes), but worth a watch and will be something to keep in mind as we watch his punts during the season. Distance is not everything in a punt.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. It seems like the Rams coaches and/or Evans has figured something out with his punting. It looks like the returners are trying to catch a knuckleball.

Did you notice his punt during practice at the end? It starts off fading to the right and somehow draws back to the left (the punt return's right). It's like a golf shot or a curve ball. I found that very interesting.

The hang time is very impressive too. It seems they are trying to figure out how to make the ball hard to catch in hopes of fumble recoveries. I love it.

I do like it but he will unfortunately have a tendency to punt some really short kicks until he gets it down pat.

Ya love the trick shot, but he's gotta send it downfield too. Most of them did, though, we were so close to getting turnovers on those punts.

Even if they don't result in fumbles a returner seeing the tricky movement is more likely to fair catch it so he can secure it. Or if he returns it that extra half second to make sure he catches it will slow him down.
