Offense is my biggest concern. That is what will win a championship for us. This defense isn't good enough to depend on.

The formula for us winning the Super Bowl is a powerful offense and a bend but don't break defense. We could probably win a championship giving up a lot of rushing yards as long as we get a few stops and a turnover here and there. When we don't score on at least every other drive that concerns me.

The fact is no matter how powerful your offense is...it takes defense to get the ball to them. Just look at the Saints game and the KC game.

Single biggest element is our run defense. If that improves the Rams suddenly become very hard to beat.

Remember last year's playoff game? Falcons pulled away the moment they could stay on the field with their run game. Rams either improve there or they go home.

Run defense is pretty important if the Rams can't open up a two score lead, early, against playoff teams. Anderson's importance is a random bit of genius by Les Snead. I love TG3, but he often gets stood up on 3rd and short because of leverage and lack of power by the Oline to push the pile. Anderson is an ingredient we did not have against the Saints, Bears, and Iggles. He CAN get the 3rd and short better than Todd, which will make all of the difference in play action. Goff needs to throw less and the Rams need to run more in the playoffs, but the play action passes need to be team killers when the other side doesn't expect it. Woods and Cooks WILL catch the big pass if delivered accurately. The pass will be thrown accurately if the Oline can give Goff a clean pocket. The Oline can give Goff a clean pocket if they effectively run-block the majority of the time, and then mix things up with play action (keep the defense guessing).

Talib has been a game changer, imo. The whole defense is playing MUCH better, because he is in there directing the secondary and his smarts as a veteran (and skill). Gap integrity, getting back to run defense, is what we need from our Dline. WE CAN BEAT ANYONE, so it's not just about the run defense, it's about the whole package, and the Rams are the whole package, imo.

I would like a guy like that, but every team has a need/want that would make them that much better...I like the complete team we have more than anyone...even considering the Saints, although they are extremely close in talent,imo.

What it means is that whoever is the ILB behind AD simply has to fill his gap if he freelances.

That's been a big problem. AD sees something and freelances and the ILB behind him doesn't cover his gap assignment which puts two guys in the same gap with the other gap empty.

Well, Since it doesn’t sound like he will be able to play in the NCAA Championship Game can the Rams just go ahead and sign him now OR do they have to go through that FORMALITY called THE DRAFT?!!!

Dude needs to play the damn call, or pull him from the game and put in a backup who will at least try to fill his run fit.

We have some momentum going into the playoffs (thanks to the overmatched Cards and the depleted 49ers). Then we need everyone to go into the playoffs healthy and stay that way. Finally - we need McVay to concoct a play calling mix for long, sustaining, TD drives:

Anderson pounding the middle
Gurley in space on jet sweeps/screens
Quick Short/Mid-range routes for Woods/Cooks
Free Reynolds/Everett/Higbee in the Redzone

The defense is back to decent the last 5 weeks (other than Eagles 3rd quarter) - so just play solid and figure out a way to put more pressure on the opposing QBs.

This is really it, we have to let AD be AD and freelance which will occasionally get him out of his gap. But when you have two ~230lb converted safeties at ILBs you're not going to be stout up the middle. It doesn't matter who we have on the line, LBs have to play at a high level in a 3-4. So realistically our run D issues are just a personnel problem. We need to play at a very high level on offense, get leads and hopefully negate our opponents run game a bit. How can we expect a huge turn around with our run defense when it's been an issue for 2 straight years? Are our guys just going to flip a switch and decide to play the run better? I doubt it, so we better get takeaways and the offense needs to roll.
