I coached women's professional football for six years. Most of my fellow coaches were former high school coaches. I spent two years coaching DBs before I switched to receivers and QBs. Working 40-50 hours a week and then coaching on top of it was nuts. Most travel was regional, but on the West coast that meant travelling up to 800 miles for away games in your division, even Hawaii once in a while. Playoffs games were anywhere in the U.S. I remember flying across the country on a Friday, coaching on a Saturday, and then flying back to California on Sunday afternoon.

Go Aggies! I went there for a couple of years. UNM had Urlacher if I remember right. Cool beans.Had a football scholarship and played two years of LB and special teams at New Mexico State. Go Aggies! Yeah I know it’s a shitty school for football, but it’s div. 1 somehow.
I left and went into the service early like a genius because I wanted to be a a fighter pilot.
Ps fun facts: played against Brian Urlacher twice. Once in high school and once in college. Played Hank Baskett ( wr Eagles SB loss to Cheats) in HS to.

I was one of the few that did not have any coaching experience. Interestingly, one of the coaches had refereed my games years ago and we still saw each other at random sports events. We had talked football a bunch, and he knew I had some interest in coaching.@MadGoat that's awesome and interesting. How did you get into coaching women's football? Did you need coaching experience first, say high school level or...?
Meh.. My Uni never recruited like others back then.. otherwise I might have been lucky to go to a Jr. College! LolAll D1 deserves respect, You have to be pretty dam good ( or a kicker lol) to play at that level.
