EARTH CITY, Mo. -- We've officially reached the closest thing to a dead period the NFL has to offer these days as organized team activities are over and training camp has not yet arrived.
That means vacation time for the players, coaches and, yes, reporters. In the meantime, let’s get to know some of the lesser-known additions to the St. Louis Rams' roster: the rookie free agents.
Jordan Harris
Position: Wide receiver
College: Bryant
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 215 pounds
Stat to know: A prolific college career came to a close in 2013 with Harris finishing at the top of the school and Northeast Conference lists in nearly every major receiving category. Harris finished with 3,735 receiving yards, most in conference history and set school records for receptions in a season (64) and career (193) and touchdown receptions in a season (15) and career (31).
Road to the roster: Like the rest of the undrafted receivers, it's going to be tough for Harris to find his way on to the roster. The Rams have a group of six that would seem primed to land spots and though Stedman Bailey is suspended the first four games, there's no guarantee the team will keep a sixth until he can return. Even if they do, Harris would have to have a heck of a camp to beat out other more known quantities such as Emory Blake, who was on the practice squad in 2013 and had some good moments in organized team activities. Harris had a heck of a college career and obviously has some talent, but his best hope might be to impress enough to land on the practice squad.
