OK, so I don't get to listen to local Seattle sports radio that often anymore, since COVID has moved me to remote, but I do catch it now and again when taking my daughter to school.

This morning, the show had KJ Wright (former Seahawk LB) on the air discussing the upcoming playoff game with the Whiners. When the Rams game came up, he said something like "Well you have to admit, we were lucky to even get into the playoffs. Thank God we got help from the worst officiating of the season".

As background, the Seahawks and their fans all believe they get the short end of the stick from refs. Who can blame them after that travesty of a Super Bowl against the Steelers?

Anyway, KJ goes on to say "That running into the kicker was a horrible call, but worse...how do you NOT call Metcalf for sticking his fingers into Ramsey's helmet with the ref standing right there looking at it?"

Their laughter about how lucky they were hurt on one level, but at least gave me some level of relief knowing it's not just our fan blinders. Even the team that complains about the most benign of calls going against them, admits we got robbed...

Yeah… I’m one who cares deeply about the integrity of the contest… otherwise what are we even doing?

If the Rams get beat, then so be it… hit the vent thread and/or suggest changes.

But when the season ends with such gross incompetence by the refs that the outcome of the game is decided so blatantly…

Feels bad. I can accept losing, but I can’t accept having the outcome directed either by will or incompetence. That goes for us winning as well. I’d rather lose than win via that same ref direction or incompetence.

Mcvay almost lost his chit when Geno spiked the ball in front of him.
The week before the refs picked up a flag against The Rams which was BS!Williams got blocked into the kicker. That had a HUGE outcome. The Metcalf thing not so much. The kicker missed the FG.
The Rams still had there chance in the end & blew it.

Agreed. The NFL needs to stop with the nonsense. Put a ref in the booth and have them override bad calls. Bang-bang judgment calls are one thing. Flat-out incompetence is another entirely.

How about more refs, giving each ref less responsibility, enabling more accurate calls?

In a game of inches, when a ref can literally create a turnover, there should be some way to override that. Running into the kicker gave them a free possession. We could have ran the clock out if we got the ball there.
