Here are the QBs drafted in 2012. This was the year the Rams got a kings ransom for the 2nd overall pick (which they subsequently misspent).

Looks like its possible to do quite well in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

s that have to do w
what does that have to do with the rams?

.

The point here is that back in 2012 all everyone talked about was the high first round picks. It was all about Luck and RG3. Turns out both of those guys are gone, and the lower round picks are still around doing well.

Tells me that its quite possible to rebuild our OL with players drafted after the first round.

I feel like your case would be even better made with the search at hand: OL. Show the OL moves we've made in the early rounds. Laughable over the years.

Orlando Pace, Jackie Slater, where are you my friends?

Big Whit was a late 2nd rounder, so yeah.

I don't subscribe to the idea that OL has to be taken high, e.g first round. Instead, I think you just have to keep drafting them, in various rounds, and developing them to build a good unit.

Yeah, it’s “possible.” Sure.

1st round picks *usually* turn into better players than 3rd round picks. *Sometimes* they don’t.

Claude Terrell, Rokevious Watkins, Barrett Jones, Andrew Donnal, Cody Wichmann, the list goes on and on... mid round picks that didn’t work out for us.

The title of this post shows typical troll-ish tendencies... using words like “for those who lament no 1st rounder means despair” makes a caricature of other people’s opinions.

I don't think anyone is saying because we don't have 1st and 5th rounder this year and a 1st and fourth rounder in 21 there is no way we can rebuild our ol but imho it would be a hole lot easer with them.
Always a crap shoot tho....We got a sure fire, star #1 overall with those first rounders. If we believe Snead will make moves to acquire talent on the oline whether we made the Ramsey deal or not, those #1 picks would be mid round to late #1 picks.

We got a steal.

Yeah of course you can find decent players in late rounds... but it's a lot more common with higher draft picks.

All you have to do is go through the starters on an NFL team to see that reality.

More important here is that Snead has a terrible OL track record in the draft. Edwards and Havenstein basically are his only "hits" and Hav has played badly this season. Still room for Boom & Allen or one of them to help him out next season but meh.

Rams need to be aggressive in FA on the OL.

How many teams have multiple first round picks on their OL? I know there are a few like Dallas and Saints. But I think they are in the minority.

No worries Maxie, I know you have faith in Les Snead to find the diamonds in the rough.
