Watching the shows on NFL Network, FS1, etc., every team is a playoff team with a few exceptions like Miami, Cincinnati, Washington, Carolina or the NY Jets. So that leaves 27 teams who "could" be playoff teams. Hell, like we've seen in the past even those five I mentioned could have a dramatic turnaround and make it. My point is this. The Rams have had 3 winning seasons in a row, something that hasn't happened since 99-01. And it's only happened 4 times in the last 60 years. Since 1970, the only time we had more than 3 consecutive winning seasons was when Ground chuck began his Ram HC career (6 straight) and John Robinson (4 straight) from 83-86. So almost 35 years without 4 straight winning seasons. That will end this year. The difference between a winning season and a playoff team has dwarfed with the addition of another playoff slot this year.

And McVay is too good at designing offenses to have the Rams falter. If Staley can only hold serve with the defense, we should have a winning season. If he comes in and creates a really good D, we should be much better than "just a winning season". Almost half the teams in each conference will be playoff teams (7 of 16). In the last 10 years the average number of teams over .500 each season is 14.3; 7.2 in the AFC and 7.1 in the NFC. So if my math is correct there is as good a chance of a .500 team making the postseason as a team with a winning record missing it. In fact both conferences have had the same number of teams with winning records (11) miss the postseason the last 10 years. And that was with just 6 available spots. In 7 of the last 10 years the NFC has had 7 teams or less with a winning record for the season. The one snag in this theory is a lousy division being won with a .500 record. And the Rams are certainly not in a lousy division.

So IF there is a 2020 NFL season, I feel pretty good about the Rams making the playoffs.

It does feel pretty wide open, with a fair amount of “good teams”... not a top heavy league right now.

I don’t know what the hell the Rams are right now.

For the first time since 2013 I am actually pretty excited about the season. We have a completely new staff, and probably had the best draft (value-wise) in the NFL. We FINALLY added decent DT depth. The fact we got a backup QB that is capable of starting in case Dak's dumbass doesn't sign is great, but the fact Randy Gregory and Aldon Smith could be reinstated is icing on the cake.

I am bummed we probably won't be y'all's home-opener, but I'll be at that game regardless. Cheers!

Well the new staff should help. "probably had the best draft in the NFL" I can't cosign. I think the Detroit Lions had one helluva draft. So did Washington. Tampa had a good draft and when you add Brady/Gronk who knows? Arizona had a decent draft and added Deandre Hopkins to the roster. But I suffer from the same disease as you.....thinking my team had one of the best drafts in the league. The difference is, I'm right.

Can you read? First, I said "probably had the best draft" which isn't a definitive. Second, i said "value-wise". Every player we got starting in 2nd round could have gone a whole round earlier than they did. You should use this quarantine time to brush up on your reading comprehension.

Lighten up my friend. Did you miss the smile emoticon? You should use this quarantine to watch some Staubach videos. That 3-10 playoff record and absence from the Conference Championship Game the last 25 years has got you juuuust a little sensitive.:biggrin::biggrin:

Kyle Brandt this morning on GMFB . said as much. He said he went thought every team's roster, schedule, off season moves, etc .. .and he can put a reasoning why EVERY team will go 10-6 ... and that seems true. With not knowing the "what ifs" and pitfalls many teams will face that are unknown at this point .... Every team looks as though it could go 10-6.

Trysten Hill was a good pick last year; he was one of my prospect crushes last year. You added Poe and McCoy, as well as Gallimore in this draft. So, yeah, you did add good depth...if McCoy and Poe can stay healthy and/or effective. You have solid defensive pieces, and adding CeeDee Lamb was a great move. You also added this year's prospect crush of mine in Olonilua (although he should be a running back, not a fullback). Biadasz could be the steal of the draft.

But I don't trust Gregory or Smith to stay out of trouble, Poe and McCoy are likely done, Woods has criminal charges against him, and McCarthy is basically a fatter Garrett. Watch him alienate Dak, like he did with Rodgers. It's a shame; you really have an experienced coaching staff, and I like quite a few of them, but I feel like you should've handed Kellen Moore the keys.

Ok. I'll admit Ingot a little hype. I'm sorry. Before I leave though.

3 points.
