The Rams QB's were garbage for the most part for like 4 seasons in a row. When this trade for Everett was announced back then, he was like a godsend to Rams fans...."We're finally going to have a quarterback!"
I was at the first game he played in Anaheim against the Patriots. I can't remember exactly, but it was like the 3rd or 4th game into the season and they had yet to play Everett. Mid-Way through the 1st quarter the fans had had enough. A chant started..."Everett...EEEEEVVVVRETT", shouting his name long and slow, over and over again. The entire stadium joined in. I've yet to hear a louder chant since.
For the next few offensive series the chant kept going. The pressure was just poured on Coach Robinson to put Everett in the game. He finally relented and Everett trotted out to the huddle and the stadium fans went absolutely nuts! It was an awesome moment to see and hear in person.
Anyway, Everett was great in the game. But, of course, New England won on their last play, a hail mary bomb caught for the winning touchdown. No one cared though. We all were so stoked to finally have a real quarterback on the Rams.
Your post here brought back this memory for me, so thought I'd share it!
