I haven't listened to this episode yet, however, I really like this Podcast

I've listened or watched Raheem Morris, Shaquille O'neal, Charles Barkley, Myron Rolle. . . it is a really really good podcast.

I even got my wife to listen to a few with me and she genuinely enjoyed them - we listened to Myron Rolle and Charles Barkley.

I listened to a lot of what Eric the Great said, but the one thing that really pissed me off is when John Shaw told him he was trading him to "somewhere where he would be forgotten". What an A-hole.. to treat ANYONE like that, let alone your star running back. I'm sure Eric's greed did not help matters any, but Shaw should have recognized his desire to stay with the Rams and worked it out instead of hating on him.

The other point I found interesting is when Eric said he caught 51 passes his rookie year for almost 500 yards. Most say that he was not a great receiver, but he said the only QB that he ever played with that could pass the ball was Vince Ferragamo and he was gone the next year.

He did play the latter part of '86 and the first part of '87 with Jim Everett, but unfortunately that didn't seem to be enough time to get him integrated into the passing game and he was gone after that. What a shame that those two couldn't have played together for more seasons.

Dickerson was a great running back; and the 1983-1985 Rams (all playoff teams) were on his back. The Rams had a tremendous O-Line and a solid defense but the opposition knew what the Rams would do and still could not stop Dickerson.

Given that, I take everything Eric Dickerson says with a huge grain-of-salt.

Agreed. ED is sorta like Magic Johnson Light for the Lakers. Legendary player, but iffy ambassadors of their franchises.

RAM LOYALTY

ED2105 has it... just like we do. Can't say that for most players.

He'll always be my #1 Ram. Crazy mouth and all.

I seem to recall reading in the The Sporting News an account of a scary incident at RAMS practice where ED ran a downfield route and there was a collision with a DB (Cromwell, maybe) and ED lost feeling in his extremities briefly. I think he found running pass routes distasteful after that episode. He certainly had a QB other than Vince that could pass the ball. He wore number 11 and the RAMS surrendered Kent Hill as part of the haul that it took to acquire his rights.

So he's only a great receiver with a great qb. ED is a yahoo.

i always turn the channel when these ego maniacs bloviate their clearly biased stories. i'd like to think i wouldn't be as bad if i was a former great athlete, but who knows.

Dickerson has always been an arrogant and selfish dude. He just backed his BS up on the field, which is why I've always been a fan of his. Still have and wear his jersey for that reason.

That vid I sort of fast forwarded through it, because I was interested in hearing who he thought were the best five backs in the NFL. But admittedly I gave up because I wasn't in the mood to hear me-me-me all the way through it.

Sorta with you. I don’t mind when ED and Magic say pro Rams or Lakers stuff. That’s normal for most franchise legends in any sport. It’s when they say stupid shit that, because of their franchise status, can cause problems for their teams.

Same here. I pretty much tune him out completely nowadays, but because of what he did on the field for us, I still wear my blue Dickerson jersey just about every game day.
