Honestly, no. But might be an interesting late round slot guy.

Quite a few possession types in that game. But I think McVay has a raging draft boner for Fannin.

Fannin is the piece. And I love Warren btw. But I think the player McVay is scannin' is nobody other than Fannin. If he is on the board at 26 watch out.

Put up his game vs Penn St in another thread. Here he is vs A&M. This dude has McVay written on his forehead.

I suspect you're right. McVay fell in love with Gerald Everett years ago, and Fannin is basically a better version of Everett. (I'm not using that comparison to express a negative opinion of Fannin.)

I would not be surprised there. I know Fannin is a athletic tight end but not much of a blocker. McVay loves toys though so toys are always a possibility.

I’m not sure that Fannin blocks well enough to be a McVay TE. I appreciate that he’d mainly be used for his receiving ability, but a certain level of competence at blocking would still be required.

I hear people parrot that comment but I don't see that on his tape. He fights hard when they have him block.

Again and for the record I'd take Warren before I'd take Fannin. But I just have a feeling he's McVay's huckleberry in this draft.

I'm a Fannin bandwagon enjoyer and would love him here.

What is going to be interesting is the 40 times for these big boys. What happens to Fannin, for example, if he runs notably better than Warren. Not that I personally am all that worried about them, but since we're at 26 that is going to factor in quite significantly. I mean it's irritating as hell that we always seem to be on the outside looking in with the top TE options. Every fucking year. This one may end up the same with that top couple.

The Michigan kid is interesting but I don't think he's got that high volume knack across the middle. But I could of course be wrong. And there are other TE options too, but I haven't gotten into them yet. All I've looked at so far is Warren, Fannin, and Loveland. The latter is rather long of leg and doesn't strike me as a McVay type pass game weapon, though maybe he could be.

Was working on a couple mock draft/offseason ideas that would have us able to draft the best offensive player available with our first pick. Think that's guy like the 3 TE, the 2 you mentioned and Loveland, or WR's like Harris, Golden or Jalen Royals though some would likely prefer a small trade down for Royals (there are a few who would lose their mind if we took him in the 1st I think).

I can't recall what game I was watching but Royals stood out to me. Prob with some of these guys though is finding the film. The small schools are the worst man, you gotta hope you can find full games and need to fast forward past the other side of the ball. Big schools are best because you can find cutups and if you're lucky all snaps in a given game. It's rare though of course unless it's a top prospect from said big school

Really that's my biggest deterrent from doing more evaluation. Finding the game tape. Takes up so much time.

With that mid 4.3 speed and his tracking ability might be the best X in the draft along with a good route tree. But it's Idaho ST and some people have never heard of it, though they didn't know where Kupp played either until we drafted him :D

Royals would be a horrible 1st rd pick as we should be able to trade back and pick up more picks if he's the one they wanna draft.

You are waaaaay too early on this. Do you realize that the boards the media put out now change radically for wideouts as the workout times and measurements occur, let alone them finding out by leaks from teams that they have this guy or that guy higher than the media does.

Basically the boards people are looking at now are very rough estimates. And when you hear about this guy rising or that guy falling it means the media types are finding out how off they are.

And it didn't take long to prove my point :D
