That's true but Jones only missed four games in three seasons; and last year played 934 defensive snaps in 15 starts ... that's 62 defensive snaps per-game. That's about 95% of the defensive snaps in an NFL game.
Even if he is compromised, I don't see how the Rams are better in 2024 without him.
Two of the five ILBs are undrafted rookie free agents. The other three (Roseboom, Reeder and Hummel) were on the team, with Ernest Jones, last year. They combined for less than 800 defensive snaps. That's because Jones was much better.
Are the Rams suggesting that in the eight months since they last played, Jones has regressed so much and the three journey-men veterans have improved so much that they have passed Ernest Jones?
I just don't see how the Rams are better in 2024 as a result of this trade.
